Underground Team Rocket base beating continues
This is a play through of Pokemon Blue by using RetroArch to emulate the game. I am randomising the Pokemon in areas with similar strength so it isn't completely randomised, while choosing three starters of similar types
It was time to continue fighting against these Team Rocket Grunts inside their underground, secret base and they were not happy one bit to see someone intruding on their turf.
A sleepy fight against a Drowzee took some time for Wartortle to get the win but it was luckily, accomplished and no confusion to do some real big damage.
Grimer got to have some more fun participating. Thunderbolt getting to do the work on a Poliwhirl so then it could end quickly and another grunt was left sobbing after their humiliating defeat and their weakness!
Down into the next level Goliath went and it was showing a puzzle game in a way.. well just needing to work out how to progress to the next area around use of these arrow platforms that will spin you along to stop on top of the dotted area they lead to. The grunt here mentioned how the boss said, Silph Scope allows seeing ghosts which is exactly what Goliath needs before going to Lavender town again.
Weak level seventeen Pokemon were in this battle as a Diglett gets washed away with water gun, Grimer takes out the Drowzee with body slam and then gains level thirty three once Doduo goes down to a thunderbolt and allowed learning minimize which was chosen over the pound move, as it can help make Grimer even harder to hit!
Finally after beating Spearow with thunderbolt and getting to the last Pokemon which was Dugtrio, water gun is able to almost one shot it, but needs one final hit and this saw a long and grueling fight end, thanks to many Pokemon on hand.
This area though is generous with the items you can find including a nugget which always sells for 5000 money, a moon stone though not so useful if you aren't using Pokemon that need it to evolve, also a technical machine holding horn drill, also not effective unless having a Pokemon to learn it in which it is a great move, when hitting with it.
A notable mention in the next trainer battle after a defeated Jigglypuff saw Wartortle hit level twenty six, was the Dragonair being used with speed to make Grimer paralysed first up. It got hit back hard with the body slam and still ended up obliterated due to its low level.
Grimer got a tiny bit stronger after a HP UP was used to boost its health, before it was used to take out an Exeggcute so Goliath could check out this grunts Porygon that wasn't tough to face, just a cool Pokemon to look at.
After this battle though, he decided to use an escape rope to head back to the poke centre. Krabby got changed out for a low level Vulpix mainly to have a solid fire type, but also there were other water type Pokemon already being used. Then it was a quick deposit of some items not to be used at this time so more items, could be found and taken with hopes of some great items lying about.
Back in the secret base it was time to get some experience for Vulpix by using it first with a quick switch over to Grimer so the experience will be gained when the Meowth had been defeated.
A new technical machine was found a little further in a dead end spot where it was the only thing worth going to this spot for.
It contained double edge and this was something Venonat could learn and it indeed, did learn it, so it had a new move to help deal additional damage when it was battling.. only issue was taking a small bit of recoil damage which was an okay trade off!
Goliath kept making his way through the base as he finds a rare candy to hold for a level up at some point, likely for Grimer but for now, keeps moving about the puzzle area which is the second one and then leads into a battle.
Vulpix had been brought out first again before Grimer comes to get off a mighty thunderbolt on Spearow so Vulpix can hit level thirteen and then a Wigglytuff came out next. It had higher defence and health which made it take a bit longer to take it out.. but it never got any attacks off, so Grimer had a field day here but due to thunderbolt being disabled now, the final Pokemon which was Butterfree. It had to be body slammed down to the ground and Goliath walked away with another smile on his face.
Emulator used: RetroArch with a Gameboy Colour core
