Through Viridian Forest we go
This is a play through of Pokemon Blue by using RetroArch to emulate the game. I am randomising the Pokemon in areas with similar strength so it isn't completely randomised, while choosing three starters of similar types
With some leveling done through the grassy areas around Viridian City and now ready to move on, Goliath heads to Viridian Forest to face more Pokemon and trainers waiting for him to come their way.
A Kakuna was an easy win to gain. Once harden was disabled it could only struggle to do anything.. this did damage to Venonat but also to itself which meant a quick and easier battle to get through.
Not too many Pokemon were to be fought in Viridian Forest since they seemed to still be the bug types, but the trainers gave better experience and money, so they will all be worth it!
A Bug Catcher with a Weedle and Metapod were first up and this gave Dratini some easy experience due to attacking first which also came with leveling up to 7. Especially considering the Metapod is an evolved Pokemon after Caterpie and this means higher experience is awarded for defeating it
A slight change for the next Bug Catcher found after moving forward who had a Metapod to be defeated by Venonat, working on getting it more experience as well. But the Magikarp which was surprising but nothing special right now, well Dratini was chosen to take it and the following Weedle out but why change? Well Venonat took enough damage from the Metapod having a struggling time and doing damage to them both.
Like all areas, you will find lying around on the ground some poke balls which are different items. After that Bug Catcher was defeated Goliath found an antidote just above, but one better item is found before the final trainer here which was an always needed potion.. always needed until you get better potions as your Pokemon level and have higher health points.
At long last the end of Viridian Forest was in sight and the only thing stopping him now, was this stretch of grass filled with wild Pokemon and this last Bug Catcher.
Like normal for this one it ended up being a single higher level Goliath needed to beat. Funnily enough these trainers were a fan of Metapod which was going to be the downfall of another Bug Catcher.
Like usual the harden was disabled to cause Metapod to struggle about in this fight, hurting them both but with Venonat's tackle power, it soon enough was another win for Goliath and would allow him to walk on out of Viridian Forest with a smile on his face. Also with Venonat hitting level 9!
Just in the grass outside of the forest was a successful session to catch some new Pokemon, to boost the strength of the party once they are leveled as well. First it was a Rattata after barely avoiding making it faint instead. Next it was a Jigglypuff which would become helpful no doubt and the reason why, is that sing it has to put Pokemon to sleep and give the chance to do damage without taking any.
With a successful run through Viridian Forest, defeating more trainers while leveling Venonat and Dratini before catching that Rattata and Jigglypuff, it was time to heal at the Poke Center in Pewter City. It was going to be a bit of a grind to level up some more, before facing Brock at the gym but it was necessary.
Emulator used: RetroArch with a Gameboy Colour core
ROMS: Pokemon Blue after being put through the randomiser
Saving: (Used for quick loading and for getting back to before I had all Pokemon faint, if I lose and so it is quicker.)
