I wasn't so hyped up with the latest DLC release of Elden Ring but when I saw this X post yesterday, I started to get curious and found myself waiting for today to play the game. Yes, it's live! Elden Ring's Shadow Of The Erdtree is now up and running!
This DLC release features a new place, a dimension different from the base game. There are new weapons and armors, of course and there are new magic and skills too! I'm looking forward to acquiring those. It will surely be a surprise because I didn't check what these are.
Because I had work in the morning, I could only watch my partner play the game. I'm using his account because I got tired of mine (the bosses are so difficult for my level) and his character is strong. But this new place have harder enemies so it's really a challenge to fight them in battle.
There's this giant ball-like creature in Mohgwyn Palace that you have to interact to go to the new place. If you couldn't see it, maybe you haven't yet defeated the bosses around here. They needed to be cleared for this to show up.
We were then teleported to the new place. There's no cutscene though, so I thought there's a problem. We found ourselves in a new place!
What a magnificent view!
I wonder what kind of harder enemies we would be facing..
We stumbled upon these giant worms along with big birds. The worm's head turned to red indicating that we disturbed him and now he's angry at us. What a weird attack, like vomit but like glowing threads. They were so strong! And because we were just exploring, we were taken by surprise of their presence so we died immediately. They're strong, I told you!
The next time, we're now prepared so we triumphed. We used magic so we can hit them from a distance.
Then we found ourselves in a place that's like in ruins. There was an underground and it felt like an adventure (I love dungeons!) so we went there only to find it's a boss' hideout!
I played a little only to be defeated. I tried to summon but I couldn't so there's no choice, I needed to do it on my own power. I have completely forgotten how to play the game. It's been so long since I last played this game.
My partner came to my rescue. He had a hard time but he was able to defeat the boss and acquire new items. The boss was a swordsman and he got great fighting skills. I don't know his english name but in Japanese it was 孤牢の騎士 (translated by deepl as The Knight of the Lonely Prison).
We were roaming around more and found the giant fire guy. Yes, the one I saw on Bandai Namco's X post! He's so strong! His attack was so long range that you'll really be killed in an instant if you get hit.

Apparently, this Furnace Golem is referred to as Wicker Man by a lot of people. I'm not really sure if that's his name but we're now calling him Wicker Man. We found wicker man on wikipedia which was so messed up. They probably have a connection.
A wicker man was purportedly a large wicker statue in which the druids (priests of Celtic paganism) sacrificed humans and animals by burning.
They look almost the same as our Furnace Golem, right?
We were able to find a way by attacking his legs by brute force. And everytime he would unleashed his powers, we needed to jump to avoid getting hit. Right timing and patience were needed.
After a few attempts, we defeated the Wicker Man. It took us less than 10 attempts. Whew! We got some items that we still don't know what to use with them.
It was a victorious feat and we celebrated it only to find that there are more of it in other areas..
We even found a dead one!
Overall, getting the DLC was worth it! I didn't pay for it though, my partner did. 😅 You should give it a go! It's a fun game even when it's getting harder and harder. That's what makes it more fun. It's a new map, so I'm expecting there will be a lot of new places to explore and a lot of dungeons to uncover. Of course, new bosses that are stronger and hard to defeat. I'm so excited to see more! I'm so looking forward to playing more of the game. So, bye for now, we'll enjoy the game.
Thanks for reading!
See you around! じゃあ、またね!
