Weird things are happening in my Garden.

So!...the friendly garden Lion has a name...that's wonderful and congratulations to @fanyokani who came up with the name Dande-Lion.

I must say, I'm looking at dandelions in quite a different light now. I wont be pulling them out in a hurry anymore, my hubby thinks I'm crazy, had to explain what I learnt from Hive Garden Community on the benefits of having Dandelions in our garden...I think I've convinced him Lol!.

This year hasn't started well with my Garden plants. They seem to be dying on me, and I don't know why.

healthy plant.jpg
Last year my Aloes looked healthy and free of any diseases.

Omg!...this year...they look like this.

dead aloe.jpg
I've tried everything to save them.

bad aloes.jpg
I think they have some sort of leaf mite. It also could be the weather, we've had a lot of rain and aloes don't like too much water.
Actually, we've been having weird weather lately...very hot days, then suddenly changing to cold rainy weather...must be climate change or something.

healthy aloe 2.jpg
I have one healthy aloe left and I'm watching it like a hawk.
As you can see it's raining again.

lime tre.jpg
My lime tree has produced fruit for the first time in ten years, but only on the one side of the tree...something weird is happening in my garden, as for the lemon tree, I've given up hope of ever having fruit, so I grew my own little lemon tree from a rotten lemon, I stuck the whole thing in a pot of potting soil, and I managed to propagate five lemon seedlings.
Mmm...I'm quite chuffed with myself...well until you know what started interfering with the progress of the plant.

lemon tree.jpg
Yes, those blasted caterpillars are feasting on the leaves.
I'm not winning in my garden this year I'm afraid, the garden forces are against me for some reason...or is it just the weather.

I mean, I don't want to go killing off every little creature that's destroying my plants...just those pesty little worms and slimy slugs.

Any suggestions?

grass cutting.jpg
The grass is growing so quickly, just can't keep up with the weeds, hubby has to cut at least once a week, being under an acre of lawn can be quite a job in this heat...yes, with that little lawn mower Haha!.
We need one of those heavy duty ride on lawn mowers.

hard work.jpg
While working in the garden the other day, a little King Fisher bird flew into my bedroom window and stunned it self. At first I thought he was dead.
The poor thing knocked himself out cold.

reviving bird.jpg
Hubby managed to revive him with a little splash under the tap, I can imagine how he must feel, flying at that speed then bouncing off a glass window...omg!.

king fisher rescue.jpg

He sat in hubby's hand for awhile until he gained his strength before flying off into the distance.

dogs.jpg
I'm so glad my fur kids didn't see the bird first, that would've been a catastrophe.

king fisher.jpg
Later that afternoon, we saw him perched on the rafters above our bedroom window, I'm sure he came back to say, thankyou.

Hubby is forever saving birds in the garden, especially when they get caught in the green house.

Lately, we've been having a lot of birds flying into the windows, for some reason, I don't know why they would want to fly into the house, I've already found a woodywood pecker on my bed and had to catch it and let him go through the open window.

Well, I told you weird things are happening in my garden lately.

lady birds.jpg

I must say, I'm very happy to see lady birds back in my garden, I hadn't seen them for quite some time and was getting a little concerned.

I've also seen something new, a Blue Bee, for the first time ever in my garden, I was so disappointed I didn't have my phone with me to take a photo, it flew off never to be seen again.

So, although some of my plants are dying on me, and a couple of weird things taking place, there are some positive things happening in my garden as well.

Bees and ladybirds seem to be slowly finding their way back into my garden which is great to see. I just hope they multiply, especially the bees, I don't see enough of them around.

beatle.jpg

I found this little species too. I don't know where he's from or what he is...a Spider or a Beatle?...can anyone tell me?

catopillars.jpg
At the moment, it's war against the Caterpillars, they're the most annoying little devils, them and snails and slugs.
My tomatoes and lemon seedlings are being devoured by them.

Maybe a little advise from *Dande-Lion the friendly Garden Lion hey!...what do you think?.

Well my Garden friends, that is all to report on my garden today, hope you all have a great year of gardening this year.

Happy Gardening.

Until next time.

You're such a beautiful soul 😊❤️

No wonder all the birds are visiting you!

Well... bees may visit a flower once to have a sip of nectar as they fly past... but they're actually attracted to the colour purple mostly. Apparently they are though! Who knew?

And since purple is the colour of royalty and you have a king like this in your midst...

I believe you'll find, over time, many more bees will be making your garden their home.

Have a great start to the week and I hope that Aloe survives! And the others find their way back to good health. That is unusual. Such sturdy plants and all. :/

Thank you @nickydee for always having positive things to say. The bees deem to love my lavender bush, being purple flowers, purple is my favorite color.
You have the most awesome day ever.

That aloe is HUGE! The limes are huge! Your garden is huge!

agggg.... its so annoying when nature takes over the wrong way... and rather than an abundance of produce you end up feeding the garden pests instead.

hopefully you can strike a balance.

our citrus has had a pretty big whack this year too with little critters

good luck

Thank you @blingit it's one of those things, we can't stop nature.
I wont use poison in my garden.
Good luck with your garden too.
Have a great day.

I defined if things are happening in your garden, and I liked that the birds see your house as a nice place for them otherwise they wouldn't want to be around, maybe they like your husband to give them affection 😊. So between negative things like your aloe vera plants there are also positives. I have seen plants like that but where there is a lot of humidity, it may be the case. I really loved reading your post. Regards

Thank you so much @rigel-gladys for those kind words. I call my husband the bird man now Lol! he's forever rescuing them.
Thank you so much for stopping by.

It is a beautiful quality that your husband has. Well for me it's a pleasure to learn from those who write in this beautiful community. best regards 👋

Thank you @rigel-gladys yes he is very special. I love Hive Garden too, the people here are so awesome.
Have a great day.

I'm sure it's a combination of too much rain and those bugs, I hope you can revive them my friend! I remember admiring them every time we've visited.
Maybe the weird weather is making the birds want to escape? Your rescue bird definitely paid you a visit again to say thank you. 🤗

Thanks my friend, this weather doesn't help at all.
Thank you for kind words, see you soon.
Have a great day.

I hear you on the poison... round up is super bad for bees ( and us i guess)

I am trying to create a good eco system of good and bad bugs. Occasionally i have used some natural things but i'm very careful about what i choose.. Just killed the garden path weeds with salt and vinegar as i simply can't pull them out like usual.

anyway all the best

Thanks for that advise, vinegar and salt, that's what I'm going to do with the weeds in my garden path. Thank you @blingit for the very good advise.
Have a great day.

i used a cup of salt... filled up with white vinegar and added a teaspoon of dish soap for good measure... into spray bottle. It doesn't work as well as roundup... and dont put it in a garden bed or it will bugger your soil... but path weeds... yep....

Thanks @blingit for the tiop, this is why I love Hive Garden.
Have a great day.

Woah, I'd be sober if such ever happened to my aloe. I never knew aloe's didn't like much water, I've been watering mine like crazy and I'm glad I came across this maybe that's why they have stunted growth.
Glad that birdie survived though, if by any chance the furry kids were roaming around it sure wouldn't have escaped. Haha.
I'm also surprised at how long it takes a lemon to produce fruit, ten years is a lot of waiting and could give me anxiety. Are all lemons like that?

I don't think so, my sister in law, grew hers in a pot and it was still small and it had fruit on.
I think the lemon tree is like humans, some just mature quicker than others Haha!
Wish you luck with your aloes, don't water too much lol.
Have a great day.

Oh thank you, I think before buying a nursery I'd ask first if it'll yield fruits early. Hehe

Haha, that maybe the answer. Have a great day @teknon .

Thank you 💞

You're welcome💕

Dandy the lion would LOVE your post! @fanyokani was clever with that one !!

OMFG that bird! They always make SUCH a loud noise. Maybe your windows are too clean, ahah. Or maybe you need some garden themed window stickers on them....

Things seem ALIVE in your garden. Fantastic to see an update @artywink!

Thank you @riverflows I'm still plucking up the courage to post on Leo Finance Lol.
Thanks fo dropping by.

Aloes grow very well here. I have a couple of plants and I don't know what to do with all the shoots that come out because I don't have much space. My lemon plant in a pot is about 5 years old and has never given me a lemon, I've given up hope, lol.
Thank goodness the little bird survived hehe. Here the little birds that perch on the balcony, which even have a pot where they like to nest, liked to be inside the house. But now that has changed, I keep the balcony closed for their safety so they don't fall victim to Grogu 😺
Happy week!

ps Dande the #threads lion of #hivegarden is really cool hehe

Thank you @coquicoin I love birds, I always leave rice cooked out for them, you're right, can't have them coming inside, it's to dangerous for them with my muts around.
Thank you so much for stopping by.

Sorry about your dying aloe and the pests but....you live in paradise! It's too awesome that you live in a place where aloe and lime trees grow. Wow how cool is that to me, a Canadian city dweller. I would be so giddy to find a bird in my bedroom. Of course I would let it out.

That's nice that the bird managed to regain it's strength. It must have hurt.

Thank you @carolynstahl for your kind words.
You are awesome, have a great day and stay safe.

Oh no, that aloe is not in its best shape. I have one huge Aloe Vera and 4 small ones. Well, I had 4 small ones, but something attacked them and didn't have time to fight the gubs... so yesterday they finished in the trash, they died definitely.

But how cool that you saved that little bird and the dogs didn't see it first. I am glad it was saved 😇

Me too, birds are so awesome and we have a large variety in our garden.
I don't know what it is with the aloes this year.
Thank you for stopping by @mipiano have a great day.

How do you use Aloe? Do you eat it?

It has medicinal properties, I havn't tried eating it, especially aloe Vera is very good for burns, sores and even cancer I heard.
I see them as a purposeful medicinal plant.
Thank you @careassaktart for stopping by.

If you consume them in smoothie, for example, they hydratize your body & help the absorption of minerals.

I heard that before, will try it.
Thanks for the tip @careassaktart
I know they're have very potent medicinal properties.
Have a great day.

I didn't try yet myself but also have some aloe in my garden. They are now s bit frozen too but I hope I will try those recipies when they get live again this year.

That's great, maybe do a blog on that when the cold weather is over, I'd like to try it myself.
Have a great day.

Good idea, I'll try to do that. Thanks!

Great, love to read it.
Have a great day.
