The pumpkin harvest is approaching #HWC2024

After several months of hellishly hot summer days and two weeks of very fast and strong cooling, with heavy precipitation that endangered people and property, autumn has arrived in the northern part of our planet.

I hope that the floods and the water element that ravaged central Europe in the last two weeks, as well as the fires that raged in various locations throughout Europe, America and other parts of the world, did not threaten you.

Even though the days were marked as warning and inclement weather, either due to heat or rain, they passed quickly.

So fast that I didn't notice that it was over a month and a half ago when I last reported from my garden, where I'm introducing my entry into the Hive Pumpkin competition at #hwc2024

I believe that harvest day is approaching, when the winners of this interesting contest will be announced, as soon as @der-prophet mentioned us in his post

Thank you for the good wishes, but I don't think that I, personally, will ever become a billionaire (unless we count the bags full of failed coins, which are not worth a peanut, and there are trillions in question 🙂).

But it is very likely that with completely natural cultivation, without pesticides and chemicals, after the end of this #hwc2024, I will enjoy a delicious and healthy pumpkin soup, and maybe a slice of roasted pumpkin.

The scene from the pictures I shared at the beginning of August, during those hot summer days, totally changed their appearance.
At the end of August, nothing was as green as it was at the beginning of the month.

A lot of the young pumpkin seeds that I photographed then dried up and died.

But still, one of them, the first one I showed earlier, survived.

And some more embryos have appeared, which may survive if a strong winter does not strike.

The days were so warm that in the area where my cottage is located, the yield of corn and other agricultural crops was cut in half.

My neighbors and friends who are engaged in agriculture, the question is whether they will have enough products for their needs, and not to get rich from those products, as German, American or Asian farmers did...

A tomato that was still green on the stems, as soon as it started to ripen, was attacked by a worm that completely destroyed it.
Even quince fruits are damaged by the strong sun, but they will survive...

It was so hot that the grape crop was completely destroyed.
A little bit got to be picked, but it's not even a fifth of the amount we picked before, and I won't even mention the appearance and quality.
On a bunch of grapes, several fruits were completely sucked by wasps and hornets, and many fruits dried up due to the lack of moisture in the ground...

But again, there is little left to collect... It is important that it is also little, organically grown, completely natural and healthy to eat.

The same will be the pumpkin soup as soon as it is harvested
I only expect you to inform us when the first Hive Pumpkin World Championship will be finished, so that we know to prepare, pick our candidates and present them in the final post...

Tell us @hive-world-champ should we present them in one piece, with holes and by candle, ready for Halloween or in the form of a dish, like a soup on a plate 😆

Thank you very much for sharing the results and analysis of your harvest. Here in South America the weather has been harsh too. There have been many extremes, either too dry, too cold or too wet. It hasn't been easy to grow food here either, but we're still going strong. Warm regards.
