Operation Lemon Tree Plants in Pots

in #hive-14063510 months ago

Hello everyone!

Once again here on #HiveGarden to share my latest tasks with some small lemon plants that almost appeared by surprise. And given the growth of several of them in a single pot, the time had come to transplant two of them to other pots, and when they grow more, a new step will have to be made, to other larger pots and to the terrace.

I am going to tell you the entire simple process of my operation of changing the lemon trees in pots.

First of all, I would like to mention that it all started with a small white pot in the kitchen in which there was a chilli pepper plant that died a long time ago. I also told something about it, but after a long time and a change of soil that was of no use, it died and I didn't put anything in that pot.

Until one day I spontaneously put the seeds of a squeezed lemon that I used to add lemon juice to the water. One of those seeds was already half open and it was the one that gave me inspiration, and then I added some more. Well, surprisingly, they all germinated, and little by little the green shoots came out, and there they are, four small plants, which perhaps one day will become lemon trees.

But for that I had to leave more space in that pot for them to grow, and I have decided to change two of those plants to other pots that I have around and put them in another area hoping that they are fine and grow more.

So we started by removing some old soil from a fuchsia pot without a plant and adding new soil that we bought, a basic general substrate, let's see. Then we remove it and since we don't have a rake and it wouldn't fit with a plastic fork, it's enough for us as an improvised gardening tool.

Now it's time to say goodbye, the tallest one on one side will be transplanted, I was stirring the soil trying to reach the depths to catch all its roots without damaging them, I carefully took it out and put it in the other pot with new soil, and a little bit of water to moisten the soil, and to its new place where it will have good light without being too direct as well.

I have done the same step again with another of those small plants, one of the ones that were very close together, this one has gone into a brown big pot in the same illuminated area but larger with more soil to see how it goes. And we will see if it grows faster and gets bigger, remember that in theory they should be small lemon trees, but there is still a lot of time for that... Gardening requires patience, right? But it is nice.

Well, now the first white pot has been left with only the plant that is in the center, and another smaller sprout on one side, waiting for both to gain strength and grow with energy and vitality and we hope that we will see many leaves and a lot of green. And who knows maybe in the future if we follow the steps and sizes one day we will also see in these small lemon trees, not only green but also yellow, of some lemons!

🙏🍋🍋

Update: I have to say that during the last days, all the plants, the four in total, are growing, all look beautiful!

Thanks for reading! Have a nice and flowery day.

It is not easy to protect the plants in this way, you have to water on time and you have to take care of very special things.

Yes those plants need some care but so far they are growing well from the seed! Thanks!

Most welcome dear.

How are you dear friend @duvinca good afternoon
How great to have found these four lemon plants in the pot, and how good that you have transplanted one into each pot for greater growth.
It makes me very happy that they are all growing healthily. Successes dear friend
have a happy start to the week

Hello dear @jlufer thanks for the nice comment! It has been an easy task but necessary to give them more space and hope they can keep growing well.
Have also a great new week!

It is good to know how to treat plants, that is necessary for successful growth.
Have a happy and prosperous week

Yeah and we are learning in the process too 😉 Same to you and again thanks!

I look at your lemons and remember a plant that I had planted in my house. Around here it is called French Lemon and it is very resistant. Where I live, not all varieties of lemon resist but this one does. It is also used as a rootstock, to graft on it other varieties that are not resistant but have other characteristics, for example flavor or size. Your experience is interesting.

Yes the area and environment affect to the plants and not all are good for the same place... here weather is quite warm so it's easy in general but we will see, these ones have been a spontaneous project and in the future if they are too much bigger maybe grafting could be an option too, as also other hiver told me like you, it's great to read these comments like yours, very practical and useful and thanks I'm glad you like the post!

It requires a lot of patience, yes, but there are techniques that can speed up the process, such as grafting, for example. When this plant has reached a certain height and strength, you can graft it with a branch from another one that is already bearing, and this will make it bear fruit more quickly.

Yes indeed, that is a good idea, I have heard about grafting and watched some video about to put some branch, so I will take your advice into account just they need to be bigger, so in the meantime I need to be patient jaja
