Hello everyone! Sorry for not giving too much news, we went through a loss in our family, and I don't know how much my wife wants to talk about it, but we lost her dad very recently, and we are going through a period of grief.

In the meantime, I am releasing my biggest song so far, the single is called "Mad World", and hopefully I can post about it once the music video is done shooting, which will take a few more weeks to do so.
I am also preparing for a gig in Paris on the 3rd of March.

To honour my father-in-law, we burnt a fire at night up until dawn, the same day of the funeral, as we couldn't be there in Polokwane, South Africa.
300 people of the village gathered all night to mourn and pray for his soul's departure, and so did we. When the sun rises, the 300 people marched to the funeral site, and we kept the fire alive until the sun was up, as a form of respect for my father-in-law.

While preparing the land, for this year, with the help of our sturdy neighbor, we found a few potatoes from last year, that were preserved in mint condition.

I just did a potato bake with them yesterday, and it was delish...

As you can see a lot has grown since last year, and there will be plenty of job to do.

There are a few butternut squash from last year that I didn't harvest and let to rot on the field, it's good for the soil anyway.
I came to the realization this year, that I will have to work in a more intelligent manner, and it's the same for posting.

I can't spend several hours making a post, and in the end, it doesn't bring much.

I understand how some can do that, but I am not ready to give as much as I used to, I guess I am growing up haha. It's about finding your value in this world, and I think now I know mine (and shocker, it's not a few cents).

I am still cherishing all the friendships made here along the way, that's about it.

I only wanted to focus on the good potatoes, as there were a bunch of rotten ones. Don't focus on the rotten ones, they're rotten anyway and will bring nothing good into your life.
Actually, try to ignore and cast away all the rot of your life. You don't need this.
Focus on the healthy branches, the healthy stems, with friends, family, loved ones.

Now that the land is cleared, we can focus on what to grow this year. We also want to get more chicken, some of them didn't survive a lice infection.

I'm digging out a few poles right now from last year's tomatoes, and then we'll think of a map to be the most efficient with the space, I haven't thought too much of it for now!

I promise you that will answer all the replies that I've seen on hive lately, and the mentioning (@buckaroobaby @enginewitty), sorry for the silence, I hope I can enjoy going back to writing posts soon, but for now I am a man on a mission 😎

Take care, everyone!!!

Much love!!!

Dearest @edprivat - I'm very sorry for your family's loss and I appreciate knowing how your fire ceremony was created... I'm at a distance too from a dying close relative, and will work more with the elements and the dark, to help move the heavy energies. 🙏🌈
For luce in animals, did you try diatomaceous earth/ DT? It works wonders, as can lime in powdered form in the right place- but DT can be used directly on us/ chickens 🌟🧡

Hello dear @clareartista thanks for your comforting words...I guess the fire ceremony, it's because I felt so powerless and I wanted to do something from here, but something neither to inclined to one religion, nor completely pagan.

I've always found the fire scene in "The Return Of The King" (Lord Of The Ring) very powerful, and in my logical mind, I could imagine my father in law seeing the fire in France on his way out. 😁

Thanks for the tips for the chickens, what happened is that we went to Spain for 3 months, and our neighbours took care of them. I am not saying it's their fault because they took well care of them and we're thankful, but that there's not much I could do and they died before we came back from Spain.

Take care!

My condolences brosef. It's never easy. On a positive note, that's the coolest potato I've ever seen and just in time for Valentine's Day! Looking forward to hearing the song too, tag me when you get it out!

Hahaha I am happy you liked the potato, brother, I already ate it!

I can't wait for you all to hear the song, I love it very much and it's all I've been thinking about for at least 1 year now!

Hey there, Prvat Ed :D

Sorry for the loss in the family, life sometimes gives us hard things to deal with... :/ I hope your wife will go through it, but it's hard when a loved one dies and we are not close physically at that moment. My condolences.

So I see you are in the garden :D Those potatoes are cool, and also there is a heart-shaped potato. Sweet. Yeah, potatoes can teach us more life lessons... rotten things - out! :)

How are the kidz? And how is doing Jacky? Have anyone else tried to steal him like me? 😂

Greetings from a mi-dog-stealer 👋

Ah thank you dear @mipiano, your words resonate and warms the heart...

Potatoes and its life lessons. That has a good sound to it.

To be frank, they aren't the same colours as the ones that we harvested last year. I think, because they stayed so long in the soil, they tend to be darker as they take the colour of the soil. At least that's my theory... They tasted good though, and no black stuffs on it.

The kids are great thank you, on holiday for a week, and Jacky is getting old and has sore muscles/arthitis, but he is learning how to take it slow, he says hi by the way, ready for the next adventure!

No dear, no one tried to "steal" my dog as you did hahaha...Nice to hear from you, I should come say hi on your blog!

Oh, poor Jacky... still remember how he was pulling when we were walking to the lighthouse. Has was still so unstoppable. Will you come back to Spain again one day?

RIP Lee's dad. Dear Lee: It gets easier.

Thank you G

Very sorry to hear about the loss in your family. It's never easy.
I wish you and your family all the strength needed during this difficult time.
I hope the tradition customs and celebration of your father-in-law was a good consolation for your wife.
Your harvest is awesome.
Best wishes!

I appreciate your words @millycf1976 thank you.

Yeah, she was really thankful to witness the whole ceremony through Whatsapp, and our fire what our little something. She then asked me to make a video with a song her dad liked, which I just exported.
The "harvest" was the rest of the one from last year. The soil is a mother earth's fridge! It kept them in good condition for 4 months after maturation!!!

I'm sorry for your loss! Working the soil heals... Good to see the potatoes are back, we harvested a few that had been growing wild in some rubble and they were delicious and surprisingly numerous. Definitely on my agenda come spring.
I'm also on a mission to get my business growing with no time for posting (thanks Eskom!). Good luck with your gig!

DAmnit @nikv I am a terrible person! I ignored this beautiful and well written comment for 2 long months!!

I am going to attempt to grow sweet potatoes this year, so we can feel a bit more like at home!!!

I'm also on a mission to get my business growing with no time for posting (thanks Eskom!). Good luck with your gig!

I get it, you gotta the make the best of the hours when it works!!! I hope your business is thriving!

Thank you! Strangely enough, it is!
I wish you luck with the sweet potatoes

Blessings to your family, so sorry for your loss. Life sure can be tough sometimes, I know that well, but growing food, and getting down and dirty with the earth can heal you in so many ways. I wish you and your family peace.

Hello @farm-mom thanks dear. Yea, I totally agree, gardening is a good way to meditate. I've also noticed that cutting wood and stacking it, has the same effect. This and martial arts... I guess music also do that. I guess a bunch of things have a therapeutic value haha. Cheers and thanks for your words again...

Toutes mes condoléances à toi et ta cherie. Qu'il se repose en paix à tout jamais🙏 Bien dit le remarque jeter les pdterres pourris de sa vie. In English we say throw away the bad apples. Glad you gave this veggie some light😅 Sure your garden will be succulent😋 Buen trabaja en tu ranchito amigo!🤗

Ah merci beaucoup!!!

Oh Ed I am so sorry to hear this news. Sending you and Lee and your beautiful kids my love.
That tradition with the fire is such a wonderful way to honour someone.
Great to see you busy on the land and your potatoes look really good.
Looking forward to hearing the new song as well.
Lots of love to you all xxxxxxx

Thanks Aishlin, sending that love back, yep a busy bee on the land, cutting, mowing, etc...

You gonna love the new song! If you have a lot of data I can even send it to you by Telegram but it's like 60MB so it's heavy, it's the Mastered version...

Oh yes, please send it to me, I can open it on my laptop. I would love to hear it and also congrats re the gig in Paris xxxxxx

Sorry for your loss. My condolences to you and your family. The fire tradition is a nice way to honor your father in law.

Sounds like we might not be seeing much of you anymore? If so, then that's a shame. I really enjoy your posts. But I get it.

Hey brother thanks for your comment and your kind words. Yeah that fire was just a humble way to pay my tribute to him.

Yeah as you say man, I won't be able to post too much in the next few weeks, but I'll be back. I am doing a lot of Martial Arts lately so I might post about that.
But I don't wanna commit too much as there's other important things that I need to put my full attention on.
Cheers dude!!!

Hey @edprivat , sorry to hear about your father in law. That must have been tough not being able to go over for the funeral and I hope your wife is okay too. It's never easy losing a parent.

Good to see the farm is giving up it's earth apples for you, what would we be without potatoes hey? There's beena shortage here due to flooding so my husband did have a panic about not having fries, but that was more theatre than anything haha. He does love leftover mash fried up for brekky in a pattie, with fried tomatoes or eggs on the side!

Don't you go to ridiculous effort for a Hive post - it shouldn't take longer than fifteen minutes (unless it's a creative piece perhaps like a story) and you should only do it because you enjoy it or/and want to communicate with friends here. I've found many short cuts over the years - gifs no, too time consuming!

Take care, we love seeing you here so don't disappear entirely. Good luck with your Paris gig!

Hey @riverflows, thanks for your message of support, I will also share your words to my wife, thx!

Eath apple for life!!! Yeah I am surprised that they were still fresh, I even found some more after posting, I had the luxury of discard the nasty looking ones, you never know!

You husband got the right idea (I am all about theatrics!!!), I did the same thing yesterday. I love leftover potato bakes, because the cheesy sauce is being absorbed by the potatoes a day later, and tastes even better! Hashbrown is also the best with fried eggs and tomatoes, basil, garlic, taaadaaaa.

Don't you go to ridiculous effort for a Hive post
I don't know how you do that, it takes me at least an hour or two, which I totally can't right now.
Maybe in a near future, I might go back to it!

Take care as well, I won't disappear for good! Also thanks for your wishes for the gig in Paris!!! CHeers!!!

Omg potato bake!!!!! Can't wait for winter... I am just planting swedes now and they'll be great in it too.

I guess I write and type fast but also think what I'll write before hand... Visualization is everything!! Then I get the typing down fast, then upload the photos, then proof. Never two hours, most an hour

Make sure you write about your gig if you can! Have you looked at Leo Threads and the new UI? Gonna be promoting #hivegarden content there and upvoting it so if you fancy a quick short thread (tweet) it'd be fun to see you join in....
