Greetings Dear Gardeners and all farmers over here in Hive Community. It has been about missing active interaction of Gardening post. This is due writing some semester exams to complete my Degree program in January. However, I love my Garden and can't stop posting. Like, I posted last time, this month is the month when most crops are harvested. Because the weather is always dry with little precipitation or moisture. It turns to wilt and dry most crops crops like cereals. Most fruits like banana and citrus turn to have a higher rate of ripening due to lost of moisture content.

This is the right time for me to harvest my banana which i have kept waiting about a month and some weeks a go. Last i showed you that they are getting to their maturing stage. This variety keep long to mature compared to the other varieties like the smaller fruits. Their fruits keep growing long and expanding. In that case, i have to keep waiting till i see visible sign of the fruit ripening from its tree.

The growing stage of the banana i showed about a month and some weeks ago

Actually , i prefer the smaller fruit ones being attractive for consumption to this one. But in terms of sugary content, this big and long ones have low sugar content. They are ready for harvesting when i saw from their tree. one showing signs of ripening from the tree. The birds have even began eating from the tree. I couldn't harvest all at a go but i cut one from the tree to share for all my colleagues teachers. It is about 1 metre long and 20kg mass. As is shown below:

The size and length of my banana i harvested. very heavy from the tip to the bottom
It was time for the distribution for my colleagues for everyone to get his or her share. Cutting from its branch wasn't easy, so i called one of my colleagues teachers to help me cut them down.

We shared them into 10 groups for the teachers. Each of us had about 3 to 4 bunch of the banana to be taken home. Some of their fruits are getting ripen and in few days they can be ripening.

The birds were the first creatures taste before the farmer who cultivated them. i saw one bunch having eaten by the birds. This is normal as most animals like banana; monkeys and other creatures survive depending on bananas.

When we closed from school, I packed mine into sack and kept in my storage room for them to take time to ripe. it week take about a week to ripe fully. I have decided to use some to prepare banana juice. Maybe the unripe ones can also be used to prepare ampesi for eating. i really like banana like plantains too.

Sort:

Bananas are expensive nowadays.
You're so generous that is why you are blessed with a lot of bananas.
You can also sell this if you have more at home.

Over here banana is able to grow well, but we don't have more farmers growing banana. At certain point, they are expensive and at certain times they are cheap to get. Thanks for your compliment!

You're welcome.☺️

Another tropical fruit that doesn't grow in my country. I like banana but have never seen it grow in its natural habitat, just in greenhouses. Winter is cold here :) Thanks for the reminder, I need to buy some and enjoy yours!

Thanks so much @erikah, really not all places that Banana can grow well. In the tropics here, they are resistant to adverse weather conditions. It might be very expensive in your area since you don't grow them. Thanks for your healthy comment.
