Greetings Dear Gardeners!

The Global warming is at the increase. In the Tropics where temperature rise can reach 40°C most organisms would be panting due to dehydration in animals and evapotranspiration in plants. One can attribute all these to lost of plants species due to human activities.

Afforestation and Reforestation can be brought back if we intensify the education. I vehemently support the Government with this idea of *"Green Ghana." This project is all about afforestation and Reforestation. Planting of trees at formally where there are trees and we lost them and all places which have severely faced with shortage of trees. By so doing, we keep Ghana with lost of trees and restock back trees.

.....the problem at hand!

For some years now, trees have been felling for charcoal, fuel wood and other timber industries without replacing them to keep the balance of the ecosystem. This has greatly affected the ozone layer and the decline of production of oxygen gas in our area. It's obvious that the sun is hotness has increase that the previous days that these trees or vegetations were in their position. Tones of trees logs are eradicated from our forest zones by chain saw operators who have not received any permits. Others too fell for charcoal for their own gains. The rainfall patterns are also affected.

The green Ghana has therefore become a solution to this problem we are facing by changing the mindset of the populace, letting them to emback on tree planting even when they cut them from their position. Schools are also not left out from this national exercise. We can curb this problem if we tackle it holistically. That is why in my school we have planting acasea siamea, one of the best fire belt and good tree which also serve as medicinal purpose.

To ensure that all the Citizenry are taking part, trees are Nursed from the Forestry division giving to institions, communities and all the people for free. Government have employed many people to work in the afforestation and reforestation project in this Green Ghana Project. This is benefited a lot of people who were jobless and reducing the unemployment ratio and poverty level too.

We have to bear in mind that trees serve so many purposes in our lives. So many diseases are attributed to these poisonous gases and oxidants which are always in circulation due to inadequate trees to filter them. If trees are eradicated severely, the production of oxygen is broken down, our lives become at risk.

Trees serving as coolant for the hot weathers. The lives of animals kingdom dwell on vegetation cover that protect them. These vegetation also help them to survive in terms of feeding. So the support from trees cannot be over emphasized. We therefore need to control our forest zones for these species. We can attest to the fact that our water bodies, rivers and streams survive due to trees around them. We have to treat our Trees well.

Your posts are always interesting. Green Ghana sounds like an amazing program and a holistic approach is best... You have to green people's hearts and minds so they care too.

My pleasure @riverflows. Green Ghana is a project that has been launch to grow trees to replace the losses.

What a nice project! I'm glad to see something is done to reverse the damage humans have been doing for years. This is an example that should be followed by many countries. Destruction is easy, repairing, replacing is not so easy, takes time, but has to be done! Nice!

Absolutely true! To destroy is very easy and simple but to repair take a lot of time. We are trying our best to fix most places which were growing with trees. I would be glad to bring a lot of updates on the stage where our trees have reached.

Thanks so much for featuring my post. My pleasure!

It is a laudable project that should be imitated in other parts of the world, where clearing for purely economic purposes (for example, monoculture of which the intensive cultivation of soybeans is an example) is causing a true environmental disaster.

The Amazon, seen from satellite, which used to be the only green spot on the planet, is increasingly clear as a result of the indiscriminate felling of trees without any government reforestation policy.

Excellent idea to present these proposals @jude9
