My garden, in full flower - The July Garden Journal

in #hive-1406352 years ago

It is not hard to pick vegetables from their branches and bring them to the table for those who live in urban areas or do not have a garden to produce and harvest, and to consume food free of hormones and pesticides.

With a few simple experiments, balconies can be converted into greenhouses where any suitable produce, from greens to tomatoes, can be grown. Here are the farming methods I used this year:

Onion

Try putting it in a flower pot or a plastic container. Cut a plastic water bottle with a capacity of 5 liters as shown in the figure, then fill it with peat soil to a height of one hand.

Water the shallots you purchased after intermittently burying them in the ground so that the ends are exposed.

Water the soil with irrigation to keep it moist. Grow in bright, cold conditions.

Garlic

get some large garlic cloves. You should use a deep pot. Garlic prefers clay-based soil.

Separate the cloves from a ball of garlic before planting it in the ground.

Keep the teeth's outer shells on.

The sprout point should be at the top of the split teeth, and the root tips should be at the bottom.

Make sure to keep the teeth's planting area in the soil as wide as possible. Make sure the sprouts are planted in a hole that is at least 10 centimeters deep. Once per week, water your garlic pot.

Dill

Before sowing, soak the seeds for 5–6 hours. Plant in the spring and autumn. So the time has come.

at least one cm of seeds. Deep seeding and good surface tamping are required.

After spritzing the pot with water, cover it with cling film and ventilate it daily until germination takes place.

Basil

In February and April, the sowing is finished. Spread some soil over the seeds before covering them with the prepared soil.

After planting, immediately water.

Be careful not to let water collect at the bottom of the pot while watering parsley every two days.

Tomatillos

To moisten, soak the seeds in a wet cloth for 24 hours.

Sprinkle the seeds with the peat (soil) that has been added to the soil in a small container. Re-cover the seeds with peat that is 1 cm thick.

Sprinkle water on it before covering it with a black bag.

After germination, take the black bag off and put the seedlings somewhere with light but no direct sunlight.

Every day, water the soil.

The tomatoes' lifespan will be increased by making a fungicide every three weeks.

Pepper

In the spring, sow it as a single seedling in a pot. To ensure that the seeds germinate as soon as possible, the potting soil must be warm.

Keep the pot in a cool location for about a month after germination.

Cut off pepper seedlings as they blossom to prevent the plant's growth from being slowed.

Thank you.

Very interesting onion technique, is the soil wrapped in clingfilm or something?

It's crucial to maintain soil moisture for onions because their thin roots have trouble soaking up water. So several inches of old compost or other rich organic materials are added into the local soil. Thanks @revisesociology for your reply.

I've never seen the technique before, it's an interesting one, I must give it a try!

Wait I'm confused - who is you in this post as there are two pictures of people?

Is all this grown on a balcony? If so, what is the context of the last picture? Forgive me, I am still recovering from covid so might be a bit brain dead....!

I absolutely love the onion grow - it's really cool the way it grows out the side like that!

Thank you @riverflows for your reply. Hope you soon be able to recover from the difficult time.

The two ladies are my family friends as this season there always some one visiting the farm. There are few shades in the farm to keep the grown up onions and other vegetables.

We even stay there on weekends to relax and take care of the growings. It's like our second home to my family.
