Harvesting bananas, a healthy sweetness

Greetings Community, Hive Garden.

My garden and I, are the ardent imbrication of synergic affinity, which travels in profuse reciprocity, in a coming and going of mutual care and support, where the flowering of my thoughts, catalysts of a potpourri of sensory stimuli, which pave the way to scrutinize in my mind, the perceptive and the ostensible, thus discovering new cognitive logics, in a plant symbology full of sensitivity and intelligence, are boldly exacerbated.

My country, Venezuela, has heterogeneous physiographic and climatological conditions, which facilitates the presence of diverse and dissimilar ecosystems, with an endless number of micro-environments throughout the national territory. What is invariable is that we do not have seasons, we are governed by two periods, one dry and the other rainy. In the place where I currently live, temperatures range from 32 to 34°C (90 to 93°F) approximately. There is a lot of heat to give, I try that my plants are not traumatized, so I give opportunity to the autochthonous, so they will be pleased with their climate.

With this preface, today I will talk about my experience with the cultivation of the banana, it has been several years harvesting and multiplying its extension by sharing the new sprouts.

22cnombre.jpg

This exotic food came to my garden through the gift of a little son, and thus began my experience with months of interaction, as time passed the stem became thicker, and with it emerged radiant leaves of a very intense emerald green, months and months passed, of observation and recognition, between contributions of organic nutrients (compost), no chemicals and water, lots of water, to satiate the high temperatures and the rigidity of the soil.

21hgardencnombre.jpg17hgardencnombre.jpg20hgardencnombre.jpg

One day, approximately after nine moons, a leaf emerged from the upper center, different from the others, shorter, thicker, and colored with a reddish tone. In just four days, a large acorn of an intense violet color sprouted, which was shedding its leaves and revealing multiple fingers joined at one end resembling a hand, and this attached to a central stem, the gift of this beautiful relationship had arrived, the plant had become a mother, it offered its product.

15Hivegardencnbombre.jpg2HGARDENcnombre.jpg16Hivegardencnombre.jpg

The growth and ripening stage continued, with an increase in the size of the fruit, flowing in its natural evolution, without acceleration or impediments, in the case of this harvest in the species I cultivate, my guide for the removal, is the change of color from a greenish to yellowish tone.

13hgardencnombre.jpg12hgardencnombre.jpg6Hgardencnombre.jpg

This process occurs only once, after the removal of the fruit, the mother plant begins to degenerate, leaving in continuity its offspring, which sprout proudly around it, in my experience, there have been two or three buds per plant.

4Hgardencnombre.jpg14hgardencnombre.jpg5Hgardencnombre.jpg

The banana is one of our many tropical flags, a reliable Latin American expression, prodigious in its nutrients and caloric contributions, with high energy content. I have enjoyed in these years, pleasantly of all my harvests, its cultivation has generated enriching reflections applicable to my existential journey. All my plants come from the same origin, however, they are expressions of different behaviors in development, evolution, and fruit. Each one in its own time, with its process, so are we different, each one in its rhythms, in its process of growth and evolution.

23hgardencnómbre.jpghgardencnombre.jpg19hgardencnombre.jpg

Likewise, its cultivation has kindly strengthened my patience, through months of care, interaction and recognition, prior to the exquisite and healthy sweetness unveiled in its delicious fleshiness.

10hgardencnombre.jpg7hgardencnombre.jpg11hgardencnombre.jpg

My green oasis is part of my home, it is itinerant because it will be wherever I am, it will always live in my place because it is part of my healthy space. My orchard, demands continuous readjustment and adaptation, only this way is dynamism its health is maintained, it likes to be pampered and spoiled, gratifying and enriching it, with nutrients that strengthen its vital space and its essential surroundings. It is its territories that fortify and invigorate my well-being, sustenances that bring energy to my lifestyle, to cohabit in the longed-for integrality, ensuring that my body, mind, and spirit are joined and linked, to flow in harmony and harmony.

Closing this meeting, a splendorous flowering of the passion fruit makes its entrance, it will be the next time I will share with you.

Cosechando cambur, una saludable dulzura

Saludos Comunidad, Hive Garden.

First of all, it seems you country and mine have similar climatic conditions, as we also have just two seasons, dry and rainy. Currently we are experiencing heavy rains almost everyday.
Then, your interaction with your banana plants just touched home. I have banana plants in my garden too, and now I know I am not the only one following their amazing life journey.
I enjoyed reading your post.

Hi @ngwinndave touched by your kind words, what a pleasure this interaction is. Over here we are also in the rainy season, but the area where I live is one of the most xerophilous, so the rain that comes is scarce. Oh what a beautiful journey into banana growing, it is exciting and rewarding. It was a pleasure, see you another time !HUG !LUV !LADY
