Hello again from the biweekly newsletter. I'm pleased to be able to highlight a new community, with a niche focus on electroculture, from @samstonehill. This looks to be a fascinating area of gardening and is something I look forward to finding the time to read more about.
These last few years have caused a lot of upheaval in the world and we've experienced how the supply chain is not as reliable as we might think. It's turned a lot more people towards growing food in their home gardens and even experienced gardeners, like @bluefinstudios, have been reassessing how much more they can grow to fill the hunger gap. Have you made any changes to the way you garden in order to combat food uncertainty? Or have you started gardening because of the recent years of upheaval?
Reading @chuch's post and scrolling through the photos as they went hunting for plant fertiliser ingredients brought back memories of collecting nature's bounties for our own family allotment garden when we were children. In a world where we've become accustomed to being able to purchase everything pre prepared and often chemically based, I believe it's important to remember that plant nutrition can actually come from simple ingredients which can be collected from the environment around us.
@rem-steem has moved and had to leave some plants behind. So there's some sadness in that, but I feel like there's also a bit of excitement at the opportunity to choose new plants to replenish the balcony garden. I loved seeing the photos of the roadside stalls selling plants. It's much different to the huge garden centres I'm used to around where I live.
What better way to finish than with @amoreyl's post on the school garden. I just love to see gardening brought to young bright minds and remember my own school gardening experiences fondly. Not all children take an immediate interest in gardening, but many who do experience it when young come back to it later in life.
Thank you for joining me. This week beneficiaries go to @chuch and @rem-steem.
