As the weather gets hotter and drier, water and, oddly, fertiliser are our biggest considerations in the garden. It's not easy to keep the soil fertile when you're constantly battling with dry heat, so liquid fertilisers can help keep those nutrients going to the plants. @ligayagardener is something of a guru in the garden fertiliser department and this week shared his 38°C day fertiliser project. This won't just be going to the garden plants, but to the aquaponics system as well.

While I try to keep cool and scroll through the homesteading and gardening posts, I'm reminded that some in the northern hemisphere are dealing with snow and freezing temperatures. @generikat's slush looks almost inviting at this point, as does @flemingfarm's Snowmageddon. However, the temperature gauge at @goldenoakfarm is starting to put even me off!

I know how much @riverflows likes to see our gardeners, so here's @flemingfarm hard at work in cold, but stunning scenery.

Because it's winter where @bluefinstudios is, the garden has moved indoors. Incidentally, while I have your attention turned to @bluefinstudios, please keep an eye out for their GroVid22 announcement, which they've promised should be coming soon.

I hope you can imagine how excited I was to come across an introduction from a new Hiver! @fattathelan joins us from Britain and is a market garden grower, among other things. I'm looking on with envy already and hope to see more from them.

There's so much going on and I need to wrap up to get to a phone appointment, but if you've got a bit more time I would like to also recommend reads from another couple of homesteaders. @paradoxtma has been doing a winter tidy up which includes firing up an oven for pizza, which is a wholesome way to tidy up some excess wood, in my opinion. 😉 Then @fotostef has literally been breaking ground to get hundreds of herbs planted.

Thank you for joining me for the Hive Garden round up. I've chosen @flemingfarm, @fattathelan, @fotostef and @bluefinstudios to receive a small beneficiary from this post.

Hello dear Gardeners!

We too take care of the plants here & forage in Bulgaria. Now its cold, so we will be planting seeds indoors.

We'de love to invite all of you interested in decentralized governance systems to check our project!
It's Called Matrix-8 , it's basically a system for decentralized governance for the people. We will be implementing it into a Blockchain Dapp very soon.

It will help communities and groups of people get organized to achieve many things together without the interference of centralized power structures & their typical problems.

Feel free to check it out:

This is the whitepaper: @atma.love/matrix-8-white-paper-abstract?ref=atma.love

And the Q & A: @atma.love/matrix-8-questions-and-answers?ref=atma.love

Nice to see you poking your head out of yoru hole @minismallholding - we MISS you!! Hope all is well. x

Haha! I'm always around, it's just been a bit chaotic both online and off. Currently working with someone on a Stock Images search feature, so a lot of time going in there.

Been reading to keep up to date on you too, but it's usually late and I've not got enough brain power left to respond, but enjoying reading. How's that garden looking now? Hopefully a bit more snake safe.

Thank you for the mention and the support, much appreciated :)
And so many interesting posts to explore. That's great!

You're welcome.
So many good posts to explore this week! I had to miss some out as well.

As I travel Tassie and find it hard to keep up, I'm super grateful for the Garden Journal and the summary of the week!!! It's cooler here than South Oz but certainly not @flemingfarm or @goldenoakfarm cold!!! Great to see @fattathelan ... Nice name by the way! Fat of the land? I see what you did there!!

I've heard Tassie winters can get pretty cold and snowy. I guess it's probably a bit like England level cold rather than north American.

Looks like you're enjoying your travels. Have you been looking at property as well?

Yes, we have but there's not a lot around. It's good to see what's around though. I'm loving Tassie summer temperatures .. I think their winter is about milder than the UK.

Not photo this time but it was -3F here at 2AM when I got up to check stoves... 😀

🥶
Hard to imagine. I thought England got cold, but that's beyond cold!

WOW, that's COLD.
How does it feel indoors in the house? ( I enjoyed following the build)

It's in single digits here in New england, and snows. Right now, I am growing in my basement under grow lights (Herbs, and weekly lettuce), but seed starting everything in Feb and March!

It's usually between 70 - 80F 24/7 unless I slack off the stoves. I won't be starting seeds IF I can get them ordered until March 1. I run out of cold frame room too soon if I start earlier.

got it.

I have tons of room in my basement, and then, into an enclosed sun porch for hardening off for cold, before the move to outside.

Thanks for share your amazing #gardenjournal

Do you know about the #matrix-8 ?

We are applying a sustainable life system where we are all connected to take action!

@zhishuijing 🙌🙌🙌

I haven't. I'll have to take a look when I have some time.

HI @minismallholding
Thanks for the mention...
As you know, trying to get a #Grovid22 challenge started.
What's the best place or way to connect and contact you?

We'd like to coordinate with your community, truly HIGHLIGHT what the community is doing, and also have the challenge run in #dreemport too! We like to call it a win, win, win win for all!

There isn't really a specific discord for the garden Hive, but it comes under the Lotus tribes.

https://discord.gg/rXwkT2kM

I notice there isn't a garden or homesteading channel, though. @riverflows is travelling at the moment, but I'll suggest one.

Happy for you to dm me on discord too.

btw, for those of you not already in the DreemPort Discord Server, please feel free to join and be able to chat, back and forth there!

Thanks for the include. Its hot, smelly work, but someone's got to do it!

If plants can smell, they'd probably say it smells wonderful, like fresh baked bread! 😆

Wow lots of new people posting, really great! I dropped the ball after my greenhouse got destroyed in the storm. No excuse hahah. Alright I'm off checking your curated posts!

Is that the one where the frame had to be retrieved from its travels?

Yep. Still looking like a weird metallic squeleton. Right now it was flooding yesterday so I cannot wait to see what comes next 😃

Oh, wow! Sounds like you picked a crazy weather hotspot!
