Supporting Pole Framework To Facilitate Fruiting Pumpkins

Hello Hive Garden friends, I hope you are in good health and always blessed. My regards to the entire team and members of this wonderful community. I'm so happy to be back to share my activities in the garden.

In our garden I planted a type of pumpkin plant that has been growing creepingly. This is a type of water pumpkin plant or known by the scientific name Lagenaria siceraria. This pumpkin plant is very easy to cultivate, because it can grow easily without requiring extra time to care for it.

This type of pumpkin is in great demand, because it can be processed into cooked vegetables such as soup stock and mixed into types of meat dishes such as curry sauce. In terms of the sales business, these pumpkins can be sold easily and also do not rot easily. Not only the fruit, the shoots of pumpkin leaves can also be cooked into vegetables such as stir-fried dishes or boiled for fresh vegetables.

The texture of the leaves and soft fruit flesh with a sweet taste, this pumpkin dish is widely available in a number of restaurants. The soft meat is very easy to chew and the sweet taste adds to the savory and delicious gravy. I also really like pumpkin shoot leaves when stir-fried and mixed with chili paste.

This pumpkin plant also does not require a large area of land. In addition to the garden, we can also plant in the yard of the house with land that is not large. We planted these pumpkin plants among other plants around the banana and coconut trees.

Land is only needed when you want to make a support pole, because this pumpkin belongs to the type of support plant that requires a support to propagate. Meanwhile, when planting seeds, almost all seeds can grow easily and sprout. The seeds are planted in loose soil in the form of a circle with a diameter of about 30 cm.

At the stage of planting the seeds, the water supply must always be channeled into every pile of soil that has been planted with pumpkin seeds. Watering should be done frequently in the morning and evening. Not long about 3 days, the seeds will start to sprout and grow slowly.

The quality of the soil must be maintained, at least ensuring that the soil is loose in texture so that plants can easily grow roots. At the age of 7 days, fertilization can be done, we use liquid NPK fertilizer and fertilizer from animal waste (manure/compost). We can do watering easily, because our garden is close to the river, but sometimes in the dry season, we have to water the pumpkin plants frequently.

When the plants are about 3 weeks old, we have to make poles and support tops made with bamboo branches. We call this the "Tawou", a framework of branches made to make it easier for the pumpkin plants to climb up, so they don't come into contact with the ground. This support is useful for hanging pumpkins.

Because pumpkins are usually long and oval in shape, with a skeleton of these branches, they can grow easily by hanging down. We erected this support frame with a size of about 2X2 meters. The width of the framework with this size will make it easier for the pumpkin to spread and produce flowers to bear fruit.

During the growth period for flowering as it is today, watering and fertilizing must be done regularly. At least in one day we have to water it once in the afternoon. Provision of fertilizer can increase the nutrients in the soil which fertilize pumpkin plants to bear fruit quickly.

I am very happy to be able to share this article with you, I hope you like my weekend story. I appreciate your support and empathy for my posts ♥️

I love this! I've always wanted to do it but wasn't sure how. Thanks for writing this post!
