My mom creates wonder and there's no wonder in it. However, her homesteading ideas in an urban space never amaze me.
Just look at the papaya plant. Who would have guessed that she planted it in the crack between the walkway? She is growing the veggies for this year in some more amazing ways.
Let me show you around.
The Beans and the Gourds are the are the best cultivation for this year. These photos are from 15 days ago. I heard from her, that there are many growing and she picked a few for cooking as well.
Can you believe, these beans are in a small pot on a terrace?
She made a Trellis with bamboo to support the plants. This helps the plants to grow upward and not spread all over.
The fun fact is, that the leaves of the gourds are edible and we love it as a curry. So if not the gourd comes out great which I believe wouldn't happen but we can still eat the eaves.
Look at the pots she used, there are crates, bins, and boxes of different shapes and sizes. I love her recycling and upcycling sense.
From our childhood, we have seen, in our household, nothing goes in the trash if that is usual.
This doesn't look great in health because they are in the crack of the walkway. The space is not even half a foot. And she is growing spinach and water pumpkin there.
Wait, the wonder is not over yet. You can see here clearly the walkway crack I'm talking about. There are many flower plants as well on the entryway of our home.
Well, now that she lives alone these don't seem very organized and aesthetic. But I love this anyway.
The wonder she creates through her work in the garden always makes me smile. The produce is not much and probably could be consumed a few times. But it's more about the warmth, the happy work behind it that matters.
I to do some gardening as you may know. I have a small balcony garden. Maybe it's my mom that inspires me. And I'm blessed for that.
