The big organic Cucumber was a surprise
November has been a busy month, I have the task of setting up two gardens : One at my roof top and one at my native. As its difficult to get any other flower in winter, I always plant seasonal flowers so that my parents get the flowers that they need daily. So planning it ahead of time, to grow the saplings, and then taking some more plants from nursery, going to native, planting them , working non-stop for two days is a difficult task. But then the pleasure of doing all these has a different happiness. Before going, I I took care of my plants, and then I grew two plants in grow bags to take to my native so that, they get some early flowers. And one pot of saplings were ready, planned since last three weeks.
These two grow bags were being developed to ship to my native. Of late, I feel better to have an assistant while working and when you have your wife beside you, it becomes fun. She is also enjoying now and ready to go when I ask.
Visited several nurseries to get some other plants and picked few of them.
The flower market in Winter is pretty vague in pricing - there is almost 100% price variation between places. This is called Chandramallika, a specific version of Chrysanthemums, that comes from West Bengal. As you can see, it grows lot of flowers, so I picked few of them. And I was delighted to see the Cucumber when I reached at my native home.
Mom had planted this in the grow bag that were left over from last year. And they already have eaten a few, leaving this one and one other for me. Worked non-stop for two days, to have everything set up, and this is how it looks now. No photographs for work in progress as I am the one man army there.
You would never get these kind of saplings in any nursery. She had spinach planted in other grow bags and I removed all of them, leaving only the Cucumber plant. She did offer some small help, but then she is not doing well, so I did not call her often. Later took her for a doctor consultation and did a health check up, some issues are there, for which got her medicines. Need to follow up constantly and do some more check ups. Coincidentally, my football team was doing a mini picnic and I was invited for the grand lunch.
Life in village has a different charm - people are connected closely. These are regular stress relievers for them - unlike a digital life that we live in cities. And after a long time, I had opportunity to roam in bike with my best friends.
The time spent like this makes me feel to run away from the citi life. Probably, after next few months, I will spend more time in my native, once my son's 10th board exam is over. And then back to some football - my favorite.
