A red rose held behind back, with a smile on his face, eyes beaming with love Ruben looked intensely as if staring into the soul of the girl standing in front of him. His eyes searched deeply to see if his love was mirrored hers.
In a red rose
Seeking answers to life
Awaiting spring!
All she needed was a yellow rose, sunny and bright like the friendship she had always yearned for. Will this relationship stand the test of time Or will it break on seeing red? Her antennae are up, she sensed something was amiss. She prayed silently let him not break my heart. Rose didn't want a lover at this point, she needed a trust worthy friend, a friend who would stand by her as she battled with the demons in her life.
The pain in her heart, the trauma she was going through had drained her of all emotions. She has cried a thousand times since her mother has been diagnosed with cancer. She has seen her mother die a dozen deaths in the last one year as the disease progressed. The pain she has seen in her mother’s eyes has caused her to die a hundred times. Drained of emotions Rose waited at the hospital gate for Ruben, She didn't like what she saw in his face, she had no time for such frivolity.
Rose had some troubling news for Ruben, news that her mother would die anytime. The doctor had said that the next 24 hours were critical. She needed a hand to hold, a shoulder to lean on, a ear to listen if she could find the words to speak.
Eyes speak eloquently
Of pain and grief unspoken
Trampled red rose.
Before long
White sheet covers the face that once smiled,
Pain now numbed in death’s cold clutch,
Her head lay on his chest,
Tears washing his crisp white shirt,
He needs to bring her white flowers instead!
Wait he will, with a rose deep red,
Love is patient, love is kind,
It does not hurry through life,
Or fade with time!
It waits until spring time,
When tender emotions once again find,
The courage to poke through the surface,
Hardened by winter’s grief,
The earth once clothed in black and white,
Shyly dons colors bright,
Clothed in tendrils of green at first,
Warms up slowly to brighter hues,
As she discovers the love,
That patiently waits by her side,
Through the ravages of time,
Another red rose will bloom just for her,
Which she would hold close to her heart
As she says, "I do" as his bride!
Time heals and brings with it flowers bright.
Then it will be time for red roses, carnations and cosmos, daises and daffodils which keep count of their anniversaries until death does them part.
Flowers speak the language of love, be it in joy or grief, celebrations or fun flowers speak the language of love in everyone.
Even birds and bees find comfort and consolation in flowers.
