It was a wonderful opportunity for me to spend New Year's Eve with my family. This is the third time I've been able to celebrate with them since moving to Cebu. I recall how difficult it was for me to file a vacation leave merely to take some time off, and even if I could, I would only have limited time and would be lucky if I could get more than three days straight time off because my former company operated on a first come, first served basis.
Finally, I'm home, and I'm grateful to my brother for picking me up at the airport despite the 3-hour drive from our province. They left at 1 PM, expecting my flight to be delayed, but it was not, so I waited for them at the airport instead. We went to Robinson's for dinner before driving back home because it was already dinner time. I was ecstatic to be able to see my siblings and in-laws after such a long period. I also miss my brother, whom I haven't seen in nearly two years. They intended to return home in August for my mother's death anniversary, but they were unable to do so due to my brother's schedule. We spend a few minutes recuperating after dropping off my sister and then going back home.
Due to the weather, I did not have much time to go out and meet some of my friends or simply go out to do some things. It has been raining in most of the Visayas region, including our province, and I have spent most of my time at home trying to get better and getting more rest. If the weather cooperates, my nieces and nephews and I go out to do some fun activities, such as visiting the surf camp and taking some photos. You probably saw some of these photos as I shared some of them on #liketu.
New Year's Preparation
We learned not to go shopping on the day or the day before the holidays to avoid crowded marketplaces, and we also don't want extra stress, so some of the menu items on the table and desserts were simply purchased from trusted friends who sell foods during the holiday.
My cousin and I arranged the table and designed the space with balloons on the morning of December 31. Two of my nephews also assisted with decorating the living room and even helped my aunt prepare the food by chopping some of the ingredients and also in cleaning. My cousin also purchased some fireworks and also prepare the spot where we will light the firecrackers.
New Years Eve Dinner and Pictorial
We had the opportunity to be able to share with everyone and put a lot of food on the table. One thing that is significant is that everyone appears content and happy. The time and a chance to celebrate with our family completely and healthily are way more important than anything else in this world.
So that's how I welcome and celebrated the New Year, and I'll be eternally grateful for another chance to do so with my family. I'm looking forward to my next holiday and future travel plans. Thank you once again, and have a Happy 2023 hivers.
