My Morning Obligations:
Every early morning, I went out to our dirty kitchen and started to boiled water for a coffee. Having a coffee routine can help relaxing and keep myself warm specially during early in the Morning. Using this small kettle, I can easily boiled water. We don't used any stove or any hightech cooking materials just like electric heater or electric stove instead we used lots of firewoods. Using this dry coconut palm and dried coconut husks and shells, we can be abled to cooked food and boiled water. It takes a few minutes before it boils and a lot of patience will be needed.
Feeding our animals like chickens, pigs and most of all this cute and adorable rabbit we have. We fed them every morning and afternoon and also gave them a water to drink. I decided to put my pet rabbit in this cage made of bamboos so that it will be safe from harmful animals like snakes and dogs. My Pet Rabbit's name is sparkle because of its sparkle little red eyes. I also cleaned the cage 3 times a week and gave her fresh grass.
Picking Romblon Leaves for The Mats:
After a few hours of taking and feeding the animals, we decided to went in the grassy place here at the Farm to looked for any Romblon leaves. Some of our place here contains lots of big and tall trees, coconut trees and a thick grass that is why we'd be more careful by walking at the place.
After a few minutes of searching those leaves, we finally found it. This is what romblon looks like and it contains lots of long leaves and this will be use as sleeping mats. The leaves of this plants is very sharp and pointed that is why it needs to be more careful by handling it. Most of this kind found in a cool place surrounded with trees and grass.
By getting those leaves, the stems must be cut using a sharp thing and after that the leaves must be cut gently. Removing the stalks on its leaves is a must so that it will dry very easily and instantly.
It takes a few hours of cutting and removing the stalks of its leaves and after that we've tied using a straw so that it will carried easily. This Young and green leaves is not yet ready for mats making and it must be dried up for many days. We hurriedly went to our Waiting shed to begin the Mat makings.
The cleaning process of the leaves must be perfect and it is better to used small sharp objects so that it can be very easy to remove and cut.
The Mat Making Process Begins:
Now, we already dried more romblon leaves last week and gladly it was already completely dried up, and now it it is time to make traditional sleeping mats out of romblon leaves.
The leaves that has already removed its stalks will be pressing in the hard big objects just like this big lumbers. Pressing it many times until the leaves will become soft and shinny, this will also helps the leaves dry instantly.
After many days of hanging those leaves, the dried one will be ready to make as traditional sleeping mats. We carefully placed those dry leaves to the ground and begin to attaching all of it.
The pattern must be perfect so that the designs of the sleeping mats will be attractive and organized. Folding on each side of the mats can prevents from damaging it.
