Crafts from seashells are my topic this time to share experiences in the #ASEANHIVECOMMUNITY.
My nephew created this handicraft as part of a school project. He claimed that each pupil at his school was given the assignment to create handicrafts out of recycled materials from the neighborhood. As a coastal child, my niece chose sea shells as the main material to produce a handicraft in the form of wall decoration. Utilizing the colors and varieties of sea shells, he arranges them into a series of attractive wall hangings.
Creative friends, wherever you are!
I almost didn't mention the name of my nephew. He goes by M. Redha Fahmi and attends a junior high school in my city. He enjoys swimming, thus he frequently visits beaches when on vacation to swim with his pals.
Being a coastal youngster, the beach is undoubtedly a place to play for free and a popular local tourist attraction to pass the time during vacations. If you visit our beach, seashells of various types are here. I thought maybe this was my nephew's initial idea to make handicrafts from shells.
Here are some detailed pictures of this handicraft:
At the bottom, my niece selects different types of shells in different colors. Here are the results:
Thick paper from used cardboard boxes became the basic framework he chose as the binding medium for the series of ropes filled with shells.
To come up with an interesting color combination, she has to choose several beads that are sold in shops (as shown in the picture, the beads are green and white).
There is no denying that some of the materials used in my nephew's handicrafts are artificial and hence slightly out of line with the assignments his school gave him. However, his use of creativity in creating this handcraft should be commended, and I feel confident in distributing it in this community.
Hopefully, this post is useful for everyone. Photographed by @ichsannanda with Canon EOS 700D camera + 17-50mm Lens, and edited in Adobe.
