This week's Proof of Brain Photo Contest by @friendlymoose is on Religion.
I hope you won't mind me entering some photos from my archive. I have been quite pre-occupied with my teaching job these days that I don't have the freedom to roam around and take photos. Also, I want to grab this week's challenge as an opportunity to share with you one of the Historical Landmark's of the country.
The Biggest Bell In Asia
About 12 Kilometers from the City of Roxas, in the Municipality of Panay, you will find the biggest bell in Asia.
The bell was casted in 1884 usings sacks of coins donated by the people.
How big is this bell? The truth is, the photo above does not tell how big it is. The bell is 7 feet in diameter. It's so big that around 10 people can stand inside.
That's me and my friend standing inside the bell
This bell is housed in the bell tower of the Sta. Monica Parish Church. This church has a rich history in itself. The walls are made of coral stones and 3 meters thick.
The view from the bell tower
The house where I grew up was approximately 8 kilometers away from this church. I remember hearing the sound of this bell every six in the evening which reminds the people to pause and pray the Angelus.
