Hello, everyone. Am I late to greet you a Merry Christmas? I've been away for almost two weeks, my longest absence since I joined Hive. Why? My days were occupied by the last holiday celebration as we hosted the Christmas and New Year. What I mean is in the husband's family. Speaking, he arrived last December 23. Aside from that, here comes the Christening of our baby boy. It's not that grand, but we are both hands-on. I may be sharing in the next few days. For now, here is how we celebrated Christmas.
For the past years, since I started working I no longer feel that excitement. Thus, it was a different year. For the first time in decades, I felt the thrill. How I won't, as this is the first time we will be celebrating with my little family! 😘.
Yet, it was raining the whole day and poured harder at night! The in-laws' houses were just a few steps away, but since it was too cold, the kids fell asleep, leaving us the only adults who waited for the Noche Buena. ButCaleb was wide awake!
He was busy spending quality time with his Dad! See the smile on his face? I'm thankful he was that smart, and it seemed he knew it was his father. He was even clingy and almost neglected me 🤣.
The celebration.
We didn't prepare much as the New Year is still in a few days. Also, my husband and I were still tired. He cooked only pancit and Shanghai, and his siblings bought their food (potluck).
Us, celebrating.
After eating and a short talk, we just took photos, and here is ours to share.
Caleb was impatient that we couldn't have decent photos, yet that smile when he is with his Dad.
I felt betrayed🙄
The gift giving.
It was our tradition to give presents to our nieces, yet this time, the husband prepared groceries for his siblings. While in my side, I will be buying when I go home this coming June.
He sent three huge balikbayan boxes last October, which contained his presents and items for our home.
Coffee, chocolates, soap can goods, etc. He was that happy, and we received so many blessings so, we needed to share.
As for us, his sister gave me beauty products, lol, and of course, our baby was delighted to receive his.
Set of clothes which is perfect as I didn't buy him. Now that his Dad is here, we will be needing him as we are planning to spend time outside at times.
This happened the next day, and his family spent almost the whole day here at home, cooking, eating, and catching up. Kids were running around, fighting once in a while, and teenagers were in the corner having their own agenda. We adults were also busy with anything under the sun.
It was a great day, yes, but I thought it would have been better if I had been with my family back in the province. My in-laws are nice, but still, the feelings were different. Thus, I am looking forward to the next months. We are planning to celebrate our son's birthday in my hometown, as my husband couldn't go home.
