The older part of Miri

Miri is rapidly modernizing. Every year, new buildings go up and sadly some places are left abandoned. Usually, at times, there are some places here in Miri that have gone out of favor. The last time I came here, some shops were open for business, but at this point, many of them have gone out of business.

Many new areas have constantly been built leaving many places like this to become outdated. The owners also did not want to update and upgrade everything and one day just went out of business.

The heart of Miri City

This area of the city used to be where the center used to be. Nowadays, due to many modern buildings being built and many of the owners here who have already grown old. It is like walking into a time capsule everytime I come here.

There is one open-air restaurant here

This is the only eatery here left. On the left, it used to be the lobby of the hotel that had already gone out of business a couple of years ago but was popular a long long time ago.

Vision 2020 building

This building at the moment also known as the Pelita Tunku used to be the only shopping mall here in Miri. Now, only a couple of floors have some businesses that are still open for business. Most of the younger generation do not visit this mall much. The basement is completely empty.

A car parks in front of the Park View Restaurant and Coffee House that is no longer there anymore.

The view of Miri City area. This city is still developing and a lot of tall buildings are constantly being built.

What is left of a hotel from the past.

This was Park Hotel

Park Hotel restaurant

This used to be a popular restaurant but has been abandoned for a couple of years. Most of those who came here to dine in or eat have passed away. Nowadays, young people love visiting new trendy restaurants.

Hope that you enjoyed reading this post. The past shapes our future and this was once a hotel with lots of businesses and a lot of people. I guess, most of them have long gone to the heavens or already grown old.

Sort:

So sad to see many established buildings being left out because of the new modern one. But, it's business. It needs to be adjusted to a customer's choice.

I hope that a new investor with future minded ideas will take care of it, or the government can turn it into a place for living people to enjoy their old days visiting the place.

Thank you for sharing 🤗
