The Water Village of Brunei

in #hive-1413592 years ago

Hi hi.. it is me @luueetang and I hope that you are having a great Monday. While I was in Brunei, I had the chance to fly my drone above the majestic water village in Brunei. It is a legendary place. There is a whole village above water. There are schools, museums and houses. To get there, you can just hop on to one of those water taxis (boats) and hitch a ride to this village. It's quite an experience riding a boat and getting there.

The water village, Brunei

Shot on my DJI Mini SE drone. One of the most versatile drones out there.

One thing that is on my bucket list is to head over to the water village or the Kampong Ayer and record a walking tour. Before the pandemic, I hadn't picked up the hobby of vlogging until after that. This place is a must see to believe. Everything is built on top of waters.

Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha Bridge

This is a beautiful suspension bridge in Brunei that connects the main capital Bandar Seri Begawan with the villages on the opposite side. It's a beautiful drive to the opposite side. There are many stalls here that sell delicious local food.

The water village from above

One thing about flying drones is to buy a good drone that has a good built in GPS that is reliable. All DJI's connect to the satellite above so in any circumstances, it's going to fly back to the location where you original flew it from. It takes a bit of practise and calmness to fly a drone. There are networks of walkways. No worries, they are safe to walk on. There are some locals who are fearless and what do they do here, ride a bicycle on those narrow pathways.

Brunei is a modern country that protects the traditional

Somewhere in the picture above, you'll be able to spot a mosque that is above water. Imagine praying above waters. The toilet? I've been to one, a hole where when you take a dump, you'll see catfishes waiting for your bomb and they would be super happy to gobble them up.

Such a beautiful view

Brunei government protects at least 70% of it's forest. This is one country that plays an important role in the world. One of the crucial lungs of the world, other than Sarawak or Sabah.

Flying drones can be addictive

Once you get the hang of it, it feels euphoric to fly a drone. There are things to calculate, like distance from nearby buildings, how high your drone should be and is the area wide enough and with less buildings. The reception in Brunei from my drone remote to the drone is super duper. Sometimes, in Miri, I've had signal lost. Well, what to do? Just wait. It will come back. I trust my drone. Once it reaches certain distance from where your at after it gets lost in terms of signal, it will suddenly reconnect back once it is near you.

I hope that you enjoy reading this post. I have a goal. I have to write a post on Asean Hive every single day. At least post a couple of videos on my YouTube channel as well as reply to all comments whenever I can.

I have been thinking of getting a drone as well. Any tips on what to buy for a beginner.

Hi hi.. Get the DJI Mini Se.. as a beginner.. Practise at wide places first.. the first time you try it is quite scary.. but after a while, you will get used to it just like driving a car. =)

Thank you. Buy from shoppee?

Can... go for official DJI store..

Thats a beautiful bridge.
Thanks yo your drone, we can see a better views and am touring Brunei for free.hehe.you can do it! Go for the goals of aseanhiving!

Hi hi.. Amayphin.. thank you for your comment.. thanks for reading the post.. =) Yea.. in Brunei there are many beautiful places to see.. =)

What amazing life on floating houses. Are there any hotels on the floating village? 70% forest will keep Brunei as the green country, Hope Indonesia , Malaysia will do the same to protect the forests in their areas.

Wow, this is so cool, I really like seeing that bridge.

hi hi.. hahaha.. thank you very much.. for your wonderful comment. It's a beautiful place to drive especially along the bridge. =)

yes, that's very true.

That water village looks amazing. Did you walk along the narrow walkways as well? The bridge looks like a work of art. Very impressive. My husband bought a drone a couple of years ago, set it up in the house and turned it on. It flew around the living room while we ducked for cover, chopped up one of my favourite plants and hubby had to snatch it out of the air because he didn't know how to fly it or turn it off. It was hilarious 😂

Hi hi.. Sharon.. nice to see your comment. I find it pretty wonderful to read. I walked on those narrow walkways a couple of years ago before the pandemic.. it was amazing. Will write a post about it sometime in a near future.

I do understand that feeling of a first flight for drone. hahaha.. and it is pretty scary. I remember u told me that you still have another one right? unopened at the moment with you. hahaha.. maybe I will write a post soon about how to operate a drone.. 101.. ahahaha..

Wow, the walkways look great. I would love to wander through the village on them.
Yes, the new drone, which we've had for over a year is still in it's box haha

Hahaha.. I am sure you would seeing how adventurous you and your husband are. What type of drone do you have?

Mmm, no idea what type of drone we have. That's my husband's toy, I stick to the gopro.

Hahaahhahaha.. GoPro is the easiest to operate.. Have a great day ahead.
