Tua Peh Kong Chinese Temple here in Miri
Tua Peh Kong is a Taoist deity that is very popular in South East Asia and is a deity who brings luck and prosperity. In the Chinese Lunar Calendar, there are two important days to visit the temple. At the moment, it is the new Chinese New Year. It is the year of the snake.
The tail of the snake outside the temple in gold. This temple is more than a hundred years old but has been constantly rennovated to enhance its asthetics.
The middle part of the dragon wraps around the side of the temple. It took half a year to craft the dragon and slow cement carvings.
The main entrance
Guarding the entrance of the gate are two dragons. In the Chinese Culture, the dragon symbolises prosperity and courage.

It started being constructed during the covid times.

In the Chinese zodiac, there are twelve animals. This year, it is the year of the snake.
The huge Tua Peh Kong statue in the middle of the temple bringing prosperity to the city and all its residents. The statue had to be brought here in two sections.
The new section of the temple
At this point of time, I am not really sure what this section is used for yet.
The main temple section
This is the original section of the temple but has undergone some rennovation and touch up to keep up with its overall outlook.
This area has been extended and paved with huge floor blocks. I am not really sure if the material used is marble or limestone.
During the Chinese New Year, usually, there is the lion dance as well as the dragon dance.
Thank you very much for reading this post. Have a wonderful day ahead.
