Hi hi.. It's a beautiful Thursday again. Time does fly. Asean Hive is hosting another wonderful challenge. This is a temple tour challenge. Sarawak has lots of temples. I am going to bring you to one of the oldest temples here in Miri. This temple is called the "Tua Peh Kong" temple and it has been here for a century. It has seen wars. Both World War 1 and 2.
I am joining the ASEAN Hive Challenge "Local Temple Tours"

The pandemic has halted most activities at the temple for the last two and the half years until it recently opens to the public again.
The huge gates
One of the things I love about this temple is that it has huge nicely decorated gates.
A lot of effort made to built this gate.
Vivid colours and dragons can be seen near roofs. Temples here are synonymous with dragons. Any temple you go to here in Miri, there are going to be dragons. It's like a hidden puzzle dragon game where you need to find the number of dragons in a temple.
Red lights lit the dark
I love looking at the red lanterns that lit up at night. Everything turns red if you do visit this temple at night.
Lots of red lanterns. It is amazing what red light does to everything in the surrounding.
It's amazing to see how many red lanterns are hung in the ceiling.
Lots of people are back again.
In the lunar calendar which has different dates as compared to the English calendar, there are two important dates to come here to pray and pay respects to the deities. It is on the 1st and 15th of the lunar calendar but not me.
What does this place look like during the day?
The view of the temple during the day. The first area to put your incense if you come and pray here.
My wife praying.
Usually, I just come and pray for health and happiness. I hope that you enjoy this tour of the temple. It's great to join a challenge. Do join this challenge too. =)
