"Someone’s sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago."
- Warren Buffett -
We had a successful tree planting event last November 18, 2023 Saturday and this will be the last TP event for this year.
This tree-planting activity was held on Brgy. Sto Niño, Tanay Rizal almost 2 hours of traveling from the City.
We rented a van for our transportation and there are designated pick-up points where we can pick up our volunteers a total of 3 vans were rented excluding the companies and other organizations that joined us as they have their services.
A total of 74 participants during the event.
After we picked up all the volunteers we dropped by Menro Tanay to get some seedlings and they gave us Santol and Guyabano Trees.
After we prepared the seedlings, we put them in the sack carefully.
There was not enough space inside the van but we had no choice so we compressed and maximized the space as we could, glad that we and the seedlings survived.
Fast forward, after an hour of travel, we reached our planting area in the middle of the forest along Tanay, we didn't expect that we needed to cross the river and that was too dangerous for us with vehicle.
So we decided to pull down and distribute the seedlings for each volunteer and crossed the river together
They managed to smile despite the situation, some of them took their shoes off and crossed the river barefooted.
All of us crossed the river safely.
Before we started planting we always had this short program a time where we acknowledged their participation, a short discussion, and also a demo on how to plant properly.
There's a little trekking before we reach the planting area and it takes us at least 10 minutes to get there.
The planting area is flat so it's easy to plant all the seedlings that we have plus the MENRO already prepared a plant hole for us.
I'm so proud of them that despite of hot weather they still manage to smile and plant those seedlings.
My job is to make sure that there's no trace of trash in the planting area.
We planted all the seedlings within an hour and I'm pretty sure that they are all happy with that, they talk to their plants which is good and we always advise it during orientation.
Here's our group picture
This will be the last TP event for this year and we are looking forward to more activities hopefully, we can go to the far provinces next year.
That's it for today!
Thank you everyone for reading.
Till' next time :)
Peace out 🤙
