Small Stores

Sometimes it's not about being rich but it's about surviving. Yes, it's nice to have a huge amount of money in your pocket. It's just that not all have been given the chance to sit in the chair of gold. Some started in small things before it allowed them to start something bigger. It's hard but it's not impossible because it depends on the determination and the will to continue.

Hey marketers, how have you been, of course, if not alright it will be and if something bad happens it will be good later on. It's Friday and obviously, #marketfriday hosted by @dswigle waving at me. How can I refuse when it means sharing about markets and of course, it can be marketing into someone's place. Yes, today will be about the small stores that no matter how small it is. It can be much to those having a hard time and earning a little to place food on the table.

Gasoline Vendor

Recently, I was in a far place from home, not that far but the kind of lifestyle compared to us is different. They're far from the civilizations that even buying gasoline for was hard to find. Thankfully, some houses were selling gasoline measured by a 1-liter bottle. Since the gas station is a bit far in this small village. Selling gas here is efficient for most people. How about a closer look?

This woman was carrying a bottle of gasoline, not a bottle of soft drinks. Most houses that were selling gasoline here used this bottle since it was a 1-liter bottle of soft drinks. Of course, the buyers will think it really is because of the bottle. I'm not sure how much they added to get a small amount of money from selling it. Maybe PHP 3 for every 1 bottle or just a cent in USD.

Street Foods

I know you are all curious why I called it street food. I'm talking about the food but not the location. If this would be in the Cities or bigger towns for sure you can see them in the streets. This one here was different because they're in the province and it's fine if people come and go in the house. It's like everyone here is a neighborhood and that's why they were selling inside their house.

Small Store

If you own a small store, buying the goods in a small amount is the wisest thing to do in selling. To buy goods cheaper and can sell them cheap but have a bigger interest. Buy a volume of that certain good and that volume measures it with small amounts. Just like buying one sack of salt, sell it inside plastic cellophane with just a measurement of ¼, ½ kg, or what do you want to do. In this kind of strategy in selling goods you can make sure that you can gain interest much more compared to buying salt that is placed already in plastic cellophane.

Just like what this woman was doing some time ago. Also, she was the one who told me about it. I was surprised that selling was about being wiser. It's not that bad anyway if you want to start a small store business.

Paul is the name but prefers to be called mrnightmare that feels like living in the dream. A country boy and a dreamboy (dreamer) who likes to stay in a small village even though it means abandoning the future to become a seaman. The passion is writing but not sailing in the vast ocean. Don't wonder if the face will not be shown, this is better where the words can flow smoothly. Come, you can tell me your stories and I'll tell you mine. Together, let's explore the world by broadening our thoughts. If you need a shoulder I can lean you mine and I hope I can lean yours. The world is fun when living is not being alone but with someone.

it is almost the same as here in my village, small stores can be found a lot.
every big thing, should start small isn't it?

True, it starts first at the bottom before going to the top. Where is your country by the way? Maybe it's part of Asia too?

Back in the province, my parents have a small sari-sari store and also sells fishball, tempura, and ngohiong. Province life hits different.

Life is hard specially in this pandemic and every little oppurtunity is is still opportunity to bring something to the family and Im glad that you were able to show us how hard life is to even the remotest part and make us be more grateful

That woman would be more efficient with measuring the salt if she found a container that she could measure in for that exact amount, instead of painstakingly trying to measure right down to the grain.

I think small shops like these have their place in our world, not only there, but, even here in the remote areas. They almost have to, otherwise, it is miles and miles to get to the town. Here in the US much is guided by regulations with stiff fines, so many don't try to do it, but, I really like the way the houses are open and people can move about without worrying that they will get stuck without gas or food. Thank you so much for allowing us to get a look at behind the normal scenes of life, Paul. @mrnightmare89 You always have such interesting posts for me!

You know I love when you are a part of the #MarketFriday Challenge! I have personally found there is always so much to learn about people, where they live, and how things are done in different parts of the world and I love hearing from you! For me, reaching out across the globe and learning about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers' markets, has been such a rewarding experience. You know how much I love gardens and even our gardens are different from place to place. We have become a melting pot of culture, but, it is still the rituals, festivals, food, architecture, even your language/languages that separate us... and what is normal for us? There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. We do differ in many ways, which makes us interesting and unique, but, there are many ways in which are so much alike.

Fridays are all about the #MarketFriday Challenge! Looking to take part in it? Here is how:

That's what people do in Indonesia, that kind of store is called "warung kelontong". It sells many things from cigarette to children snacks.

Ah, in our country Philippines it is called a sari-sari store, and yeah just like you said what they're selling. Thanks and have a nice day
