Pakudui Village, north of Ubud, is a rising destination spot for tourists. Years ago, I remember it was just a peaceful road by a rice fields. The beautiful rice terraces carved on hills along the road, made for an amazing view. This is why many tourists stop to enjoy this sight. Nowadays, it's quite popular with visitors flocking in the morning or late day.
Exploring The Rice Terraces
I saw many cars and tourist vehicles parked near a section selling tickets to the rice terraces. It's hard to believe that we now have to pay just for the view of these fields, but I bought some anyway since it's the only way in. But it is good since it brings revenue to the village, and create jobs for people.
After getting our tickets, my clients and I entered an area with views of rice terraces, hills, and coconut trees. We were high up and could see far into the distance. Then we walked along paths through the fields so they could get close enough to touch the rice plants- even speak with local farmers who gladly let them hold a bunch of rice plants pretending to harvest. Then my job was to take photos of them.
Exhilarating Swing and Zip-line Adventures
In addition to the stunning views of rice terraces, hills, and coconut trees in this village, there are even more attractions. One popular activity is swinging over these beautiful rice fields. The swing is safely attached to coconut trees and allows you to soar above the ground for an exhilarating experience.
For those who like social media-worthy photos, there's an option to rent a long colorful dress which will billow out as you swing. This may be more appealing for ladies than men.
The cost of this swing is around 15 US dollars per person or 30 dollars for couples. Another 20 for renting the dress.
Aside from the swing, another adventure awaits with zip lines that take you across the fields and back again - all while offering breathtaking views of distant rice fields and below. You can pretend you are superman flying over the rice terraces. That's not a bad idea at all. An even more thrilling option involves cycling on a zip line across valley where the rice fields is located.
When I ask my clients if they want to try the swing, zipline or bicycle ride, some prefer just enjoying the view and walking along the rice field paths.
Well, not everyone is excited about these activities.
Do you think that you would you choose to swing or zipline across the rice terraces in Bali? Or just enjoy the view?
