Started October 27, 3P.M. I was assigned to cover the “Mr. And Ms. UN” for a news write-up. The event is a pageant for junior high students who's going to represent the countries that are part of UN.
We, STEM-11 Milky Way, wanted our classmate to join, but Senior High students aren't allowed so we didn't have a chance.
However we still love the event. In fact, it's so great to watch. Seeing students walking like we were watching the “Binibining Pilipinas.”
Sadly, the phone only has 10% battery, losing my chance on getting more photos. Though I'm glad to see the event in person.
Haven't took photos of the introduction, but at least the photos I took are the National Costumes of the countries. Ranging from Japan, to Mexico, to United Kingdom, to China, and more!
This event lasted until 8 P.M., but I left the event before 6 because I need to return home before 6 P.M.
That event, specifically the principal's speech regards to the importance of the U.N. Week, made me realise a thing or 2.
What exactly is United Nations Week? Why Celebrate?
United Nation Week starts at October 18 to 24 (however the school event started 3 days after), is the week where the 50 countries are gathered, drafted, and signed the U.N. Charter at the United Nations of International Organization in 1945, just before the end of World War II.This resulted in establishing the United Nations Organization. The goal is to maintain international peace, security, protect human rights, and such.
This week is anually celebrated since 2007. And in present more than 100 countries joined U.N.
The ongoing Israel v.s. Hamas war made me reflect as well. Without peace, countries are going to have conflicts. Without any organizations like United Nations, there's more than just conflicts going to happen.
So I'm glad that history made its part and you can learn more. Also, I would like to show my care and love for the people on Israel and families whose members are still in the battlegrounds. May God bless you all.
As for the reminder, let's be together and show hope to each and every people around us.
Anyways thanks for reading!
