Konnichiwa!!!
Before anything else, I would just like to make it clear that this post isn't going to be a movie review but a summary of my day meeting a friend and watching the film. Why don't I write something about the film, you may ask? Well, I'm going to explain on the next paragraphs!
(I wrote this post last July 12 and I am just sharing it today.)
SM Cinema was the first movie theater in the Philippines to announce that they will be showing Jujutsu Kaisen 0. As excited as I was, I immediately informed @leannwithdoublen who also agreed to watch it. Two days before the date we've set, I purchased our tickets. It's better to secure tickets just in case there's an influx of people on the time we planned to watch it. The next day, a mall nearby has announced they will also be showing the anime film at their cinema. Yikes! SM Cinema's JJK ticket was Php 400 (approx. $8 usd) while the other cinema was only around Php 300 (approx. $6 usd) Sadly, tickets are non-refundable so I have to watch the film at SM Cinema. It's an hour bus ride from home while the other is only around 5 minutes away.
And speaking of bus, the bus I rode almost drove pass by the SM mall because I didn't tell the bus conductor my specific destination. Lol. I was seated at the farthest seat so I stood immediately and tried to call the attention of the conductor and driver. Luckily, I think they heard me or maybe saw me from the rear view mirror so the driver stepped on the brake. Whew. If they didn't hear me, I could've watched Jujutsu Kaizen 0 at Mall of Asia. Loool.
I arrived first and saw the mall was still closed so I went inside a convenience store and bought a snack while waiting for Leann who arrived just in time the mall opened. She accompanied me to buy scarves and slippers for my mama and tempered glass for my tablets. After that, we went up to the cinema to check if there are posters of the film to take some photos.
Sadly, there were no posters but there's a monitor on the side which plays trailers of films shown at their cinema. We watched and waited for the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 trailer to play so we can take photos and selfies with it. Haha!
It was tough catching the parts we like to capture. There's still two hours before the film starts so we went down to eat lunch at Botejyu. (Check my post about our Botejyu experience - Botejyu: A New Favorite Japanese Resto)
After eating our lunch, we went back to the cinema lobby and claimed the tickets I bought online. I just presented the soft copy of my purchase at the cinema counter and in a few minutes of verification, our tickets were printed and handed to us. We then went to the cinema entrance but the staff said we can't enter the cinema yet and we have to wait around 30 minutes before they allow people to enter.
While we were waiting, we saw cosplayers cosplaying Maki and Gojo also waiting at the lobby. We've actually seen them already beforehand when we went up at the cinema to look for posters. They were at the ground floor purchasing drinks.
Maki was facing the wall which I don't know why. Maybe she's shy? Meanwhile, Gojo walked and went to buy some food. I wanted to take pictures with them but I was shy to ask them so nevermind. I'll just settle and suffer with this tiny shots because I don't have the guts to go near them.
We resumed our chitchat and waited until it's time to go inside. I guess there were also a lot who watched the film on that schedule. Halfway through the film, some group of people entered the cinema and was seemingly wondering why there were almost no people watching, then one of them looked at the seats above and saw our crowd. He muttered, "ay power!" The way he said it wasn't so loud but everyone heard it. Lol. Everyone laughed at the comment.
After the film, the staff at the exit handed us a pack of popcorn. I was surprised they gave it after we finished watching. Isn't it supposed to be consumed inside the cinema while watching the film? Anyway, I still have not eaten it. The expiration date is still months away so it's alright. (I already ate it days after this post was written)
Now maybe you're wondering why I chose not to tell a review about the film. Listen.. I'm exhausted from my home duties and I lack sleep every single day. So what exactly happened?
I was falling asleep. Haha! Though I tried my best to open my eyes and read the subtitles. But at the same time, the cinema was too relaxing that I could hardly fight my sleepiness. My eyes would instantly close when the scene is too quiet, characters just conversing, or when a soft music plays on the background. Leann said the film was great and tear-jerking. She enjoyed the film while I enjoyed sleeping. 🤷♀️ I kind of get what the film is about though so it's alright.
I even planned to rewatch the film at the nearby cinema but sadly, mama was rushed to the hospital and I wasn't able to rewatch it.
Well, it's not like I am not paying attention to the film. I believe the film teaches us to be careful with our wishes and not be selfish. And also, to set the person free if we truly love him/her.
That's all folks!
Thanks Jujutsu Kaisen 0, I got reunited with a friend after four years!
