Hello everyone 👧.
It's been over 2 years since my family and I did not go to travel to other countries due to the pandemic. I usually make my travel plans early for more than half a year so that I could get a cheap flight ticket for purchasing it early. However, the recent overseas travel was a last minute plan.
My older aged family members eagerly wanted to travel outside Malaysia in the nearest period last year. For me, I kind of oppose it as the costs of travel for a last minute plan (less than 4 months) are expensive. Since there is a majority voice among them, this last minute travel plan still goes on. Due to this matter, I have to work more to earn extra travel funds.
The itinerary for this travel plan is 6 days 5 nights to Bangkok and Hua Hin. Our travel group consists of 11 people (8 senior citizens and 3 young pretty ladies including me). We departed from Kota Kinabalu in the morning on the travel day.
There is no direct flight to Thailand from KKIA. We have to board a transit flight from KKIA to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and then reach our destination at Don Mueang International Airport.
We have to wait almost 3 hours for our next flight. We window shop around the stores and have tea at one of the many restaurants inside KLIA to kill the time.
My friends said I should focus on enjoying my travel trip without think about work. As for my case, since I'm running my own business, 100% not bothering about work during travel is impossible for me. During my travels, I just bring my Chromebook laptop in case I get an unreasonable client who wants an urgent work reply.
From my hometown in the morning to Bangkok, Thailand almost at night is a whole day's journey. Once we've cleared immigration and gotten our luggage through, we look for the tour guide.
Many people said we could have our tour in Thailand without getting a tour guide. In our case, I and my younger cousin don't have the confidence to manage our older family members (who some are a bit stubborn). In addition, in my group, most of us including me are first time visitors to Bangkok. Therefore, we prefer to pay an extra travel cost to the tour guide so less additional headache for our travel trip.
Our tour guide who was born in South Thailand communicated with us in Indonesian language. We from Malaysian understood it as our language and most of it is similar to Indonesian language.
The first attraction we visited was The One Ratchada night market. This market is just beside a shopping mall but we did not have a full explore or just walked around the ground floor to have a look.
The street food in this night market is considered not cheap as this night market is kind of designated for foreign tourists to visit. When walking along the street market, I saw most of them were foreign tourists.
Our plan to buy varieties of street foods and sit on any available table seats to enjoy the food we bought is not fulfilled. It's rainy at that time and all the table seats are wet. We went to a restaurant indoors or under the canopy with dry table seats to have our family's dinner that we ordered from that restaurant.
My Mum loves Som Tam. After tasting the Som Tam that she ordered from the restaurant, it tasted totally different from that made by non-Thai people in my hometown. There's more spice, more fishy taste and it's not for me.
Our first day in Bangkok, Thailand began with a trip to the One Ratchada night market. Then, we were sent to the hotel to end our first day's tour. There's a 7 Eleven right beside our hotel. We bought some snacks there first before resting in our hotel room.
Next day we're going to Hua Hin. We have to wake up early for breakfast and then head out of the hotel at 8.30 am for our visit to other travel attractions. The stories will continue in my next post.
That's all. Thanks for reading my post.
