When I heard about the rescheduling, I was upset at first, because I had been preparing and practising diligently. However, as the day progressed, I became more convinced that by rescheduling, it could actually be a respite for the participants to train harder.
Maybe because it was my first race, so I was really excited and a little nervous.
Two days before to the day of the event, the organiser had sent an announcement to the participants for Racepack colection at the designated place and time. So, that night, my two friends and I went to Senayan Park Mall to collect our racepack and BIB number. And here it is... my BIB number is 4757. After we finished, we gathered for dinner, then went straight home. We have to rest, it's not recommended to stay up late for a good performance.
D-DAY.
Because the distance of the venue from my house is a bit far, I also arrived at the location exactly ten minutes before the flagg off. Fortunately, there was still a welcome from the organisers, which could buy me a few minutes. So, while I was looking for a position to prepare for the flag off, I was able to do a small warm-up. (Whenever we do any exercise, we should warm up so that our body won't be shocked and reduce injuries)
Even though we entered the venue with two of my friends, surprisingly, we got separated somewhere after we started running. Eventually, we decided to meet up after the finish. For the three of us, this was our first 10k run. So, there were a lot of worries, worrying about not being strong enough, worrying about getting injured, or worrying about not finishing and becoming a DNF. But, as it turned out... those worries just disappeared, when finally the three of us were able to finish the race this time with a happy and strong finish.
The race, which was attended by almost 4000 participants, was very fun and orderly. Even better, there were even some participants with disabilities who participated. It was really fun and in line with the slogan of this race, right?
After crossing the finish line, all participants were directed to take refreshments in the form of: bananas, isotonic drinks, and fitbar. After getting my medal, I looked for a seat and joined the other runners who were also enjoying my refreshment. Not far from where I was sitting, there was a disabled runner who had just finished his race.
I went over and had a little chat with them. One of them was named Irna who came from Fatmawati, South Jakarta. I started to ask her how the facilities of the Women's Day Run were for people with disabilities. She said honestly that everything was good and the track was also good. According to Irna, tickets for the 10k race are also cheap compared to other events. She really hopes that this kind of quality will always be there in other running events too. Respect for Irna and other friends with disabilities.
Respect also to all Women's Day Run 10k 2024 finishers. We are all equal, we are all strong!
