Today I wasn't real sure what I was going to write about. All I seem to hear about here is the upcoming election tomorrow, so the last thing I would want to share it anything about that. So today I decided to go with something happier, and what could be happier than toys? In this my case today, some more LEGOs!
A while back I stumbled on an article about rare LEGO mini-figures. This one is Star Wars related as well but made of solid 14 K gold. I wish I owned it, but it was a special giveaway at the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con. This Boba Fett mini-figure is worth in excess of $20,000 and there were only ever two produced. Wouldn't it be fun to find one of these?

It came like this from what I understood, what a cool thing to win just for going to Comic-Con?
And for those unfamiliar with the character Boba Fett, he was the bounty hunter in "The Empire Strikes Back" who is after Han Solo. They since have made a Disney series about him on Disney+ just one or two years ago if I recall correctly. Here's a picture to jog your memory (add it's some great artwork):
I have been working on and off a some LEGOs I had purchased at a thrift store not too far from here a couple months back. It has already more than paid for itself in mini-figure sales, but now I started to work through some of the sets in the bins of parts. There several instruction books that came in the bins, so I pulled out one that looked promising because it's Star Wars related. They always seem to sell well.
The set I put together was based on the planet Endor in the movie "Return of the Jedi". Part of the set were some Ewoks I shared previously, but here are a few more of the mini-figures that go with the set. You got Han Solo, R2-D2, Chewbacca, a rebel trooper and and Imperial mini-figure in the black.
The set came with a catapult the Ewoks used to attack the Empire forces, it took a while but I found all of the pieces.
This one is really cool, one of the Empire walkers. It was a lot of fun to put together once I pulled out all of the right parts. On the instruction book cover Chewbacca is inside the vehicle after stealing it from it's owner, so there he is in the second picture below.
Then I put together some speeder bikes along with the Imperial scout troopers that are supposed to ride them. These are pretty awesome too!
And then there was a bunker that came with the set. It was hard to find all of the parts to put it together. At the very end of the process one part was missing. If you look at the picture below you see three orange cones, there are supposed to be four. I'm going to have to go ahead and replace it because the set is probably worth about $150. Not too bad for old LEGOs! And I still have a bunch more sets to dig through in the bins I purchased.
And a few more views of the bunker. I'm going to have to find a bigger background to take the final eBay pictures. I took some shots and cropped out the edges because it's bigger than my usual background plates I use to take pictures to sell my LEGO items.
I'm really happy with this set, it's an older one and it's pretty valuable. It came with a lot of pieces and took about three hours to put it together. But I won't complain one bit, I'm making money by playing with toys! There really is a lot of money to be made if you can find the right LEGOs for cheap. I always check at thrift stores around once a week, most trips are a bust with nothing worth buying. Every now and again you get lucky. It may not be a solid gold LEGO, but they still can be valuable!
Next time you go to a thrift store make sure to check the toy isle for LEGOs, they often can be flipped for some nice profits. I find most movie franchise sets are a good bet, especially the older one. But be careful with Harry Potter, they can be very hard to sell! That will wrap up my post for the day, I hope you found the gold Boba Fett and my set interesting. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to leave them below, and have a great week everyone!
