Monomad: Rhene Jumper

in #hive-1421597 days ago

I found this little guy in the bushes, right around lunchtime. He had just finished hunting, and what did he get? I think that was a pollinator fly. He was the first Rhene jumping spider (genus Rhene) I had ever found while hunting. His head mimicked a flying saucer with a furry face and four eyes; two of the big ones were quite prominent. There were two more—maybe four—on the sides of his head. The little Rhene was holding his prey like a puppet. That prey was dead and ready for lunch. Yummy!
