Thank you for your helpful directions @deerjay to the #monomad challenge by @monochrome, I love your very cute black and white bunny photos.
Motivated by my love of black and white photography combined with the fun presenting my first entry into this challenge, here I am joining in with the contest.
I am sharing the three photos I took on a sunny beach, an unfriendly choppy ocean, a strong current and rifts, carefree swimmers and a highly vigilant lifeguard. What a busy open surf beach it was that morning.
The lasting effects of the low pressure trough that rained down and blew our community and the beach/ocean were still evident. When standing nearby I saw the young surf lifeguard who was about 30 metres away, drive his little official lifeguard beach jeep closer to where a woman and her young son were completely enjoying a fast float down a deep water trough located near the water's edge. They did it repetitively.
Were they being reckless?
The lifeguard must have thought so as he was quick to move closer just in case they needed him to spring into rescue action.
Although it must have been a lot of fun for this mother and her son, it was nonetheless reckless of them to do what they did. Rifts and currents are dangerous, unaware swimmers can be swept out sea very easily. This open surf beach is very unpredictable. Drownings do happen here.
The young lifeguard did not ask them to stop their water fun, he wisely stood close by watched and ready to spring into action.
As it panned out no rescue was needed for this adventure couple. I am sure given how quiet this surf beach is the lifeguard would not have minded a bit of excitement, doing what he has been trained for.
I for one would have liked the action!
Regards to the Black and White Community
(ps: The lifeguard made a great shadow on the sand!)
