Dear friends of Hive and Black and White community especially. This time I bring you, for the #monomad challenge of the day, the photographic record of a sinking ship off the coast of Santa Eulalia, Ibiza.
When I saw it for the first time, I was struck by the fact that it was so tilted, I thought what it was: that it was sinking, but for a moment I wanted to convince myself that I was imagining it, despite the people who had crowded on the coast to observe this event.

Queridos amigos de Hive y de Black and White community especialmente. En esta oportunidad les acerco, para el #monomad challenge del día, el registro fotográfico de un barco que se estaba hundiendo en la costa de Santa Eulalia, Ibiza.
Cuando lo vi por primera vez, me llamó la atención que estuviera tan ladeado, pensé lo que era: que se estaba hundiendo, pero por un momento quise convencerme de que me lo estaba imaginando, a pesar de la gente que se había amontonado en la costa para observar este evento.
The boat had the German and Spanish flag, had been evacuated because there was no one inside and was being assisted by the civil guard in another boat, and by a small boat, which I got the impression had served as a lifeboat. In addition, I could see how this damaged boat was connected to a much larger one, which was farther back.
El barco tenía la bandera alemana y la española, había sido evacuado porque no había nadie dentro y estaba siendo asistido por la guardia civil en otro bote, y por una pequeña embarcación, que me dio la impresión que había servido de bote salvavidas. Además se veía cómo este barco averiado estaba conectado con otro mucho más grande, que se encontraba bastante más atrás.
I saw this at 8 o'clock in the morning, a couple of days ago, and at 8 o'clock in the evening of the same day, this vessel evidenced what was happening and it was indeed going towards the base of the offshore platform.
I knew this because floats had been placed around the vessel in question.
The image was very dramatic, because just the design of this means of transport had a vintage style and that afternoon, the clouds were scattered furiously in the sky, so it gave the impression of having moved in time, or trying to a kind of haunted ship or ghost ship.
Contemplé esto a las 8 de la mañana, de hace un par de días atrás, y a las 8 de la tarde del mismo día, esta embarcación evidenció lo que estaba ocurriendo y es que efectivamente se estaba yendo hacia la base de la plataforma marina.
Supe esto porque habían sido colocados flotadores alrededor del barco en cuestión.
La imagen era muy dramática, pues justo el diseño de este medio de transporte tenía un estilo vintage y aquella tarde, las nubes se desparramaban con furia en el cielo, por lo que daba la impresión o bien de haberse trasladado en el tiempo, o de tratar de de una especie de barco embrujado o barco fantasma.

The next day I went to see what had become of the whole story, but they had already removed the boat and the floats that were holding it up. I imagine that another larger ship removed it from the coast of Santa Eulalia.
Haber estado allí no debe haber sido nada bueno, pero por suerte la embarcación no se hundió.
Al otro día fui para ver qué había sido de toda esta historia, pero ya habían removido a la embarcación y a los flotadores que la estaban sosteniendo. Imagino que otro barco más grande la retiró de la costa de Santa Eulalia.
I think the black and white is spectacular in this case, as it gives us an even more dramatic image of the moment. It is a bit “ugly” to be capturing something like this, but given that the people on the boat I imagine are fine (as there was no ambulance), I think it is also interesting to have been able to witness this event, just when this boat was being assisted.
I also liked being able to see her condition with half a day to spare.
Creo que el blanco y negro queda espectacular en este caso, ya que nos ofrece una imagen aún más dramática del momento. Es un poco “feo” el estar capturando algo así, pero dado a que las personas que estaban en el barco imagino están bien (pues no había ambulancia), creo que también es interesante haber podido presenciar este evento, justo cuando esta embarcación estaba siendo asistida.
También me gustó poder ver su estado con medio día de diferencia.
