Black and white sculptures from low angles (#Monomad and #Pobphotocontest)

Hi,

I found this week's topic of the #pobphotocontest organized by @friendlymoose about low angle photography very interesting.

As an amateur photographer that I am there are photographic concepts that I did not know and, but I have realized that I was unintentionally applying them as is the case of taking photographs from a lower perspective for certain elements in order to give more strength, height or superiority with the aim of reaffirming the message.

King Ramiro I (Jaca)

The kings, since medieval times, were the people with more power over a region, country or kingdom. That is why, reviewing some of my photographs, I have realized that I have taken pictures of their statues from a low angle in order to give it a greater strength and express with it a greater social superiority.

Angel (La Ballena Cemetery in Castro Urdiales)

For those who are believers, angels are superior entities close to God and therefore we imagine them as beings superior to mere mortals.

Taking this photograph from a lower angle was a good idea to emphasize the superiority of the angel over the mere mortal who is already buried in his pantheon at the bottom.

Christ of the Otero (Palencia)

Continuing with the deities, another of my low angle sculpture photographs is the Christ of the Otero in the city of Palencia.

Like many other cities in the world, on a nearby hill there is a large christ and in this case it is a sculpture of more than 20 meters high that is placed among the largest statues of christs in the world and specifically the second largest in Europe.

Tombatossals (Castellón de la Plana)

When one goes out to weigh by a city that does not know and meets such a sculpture, one can only feel small and there is nothing else to do but take a picture from a low angle.

At 20 meters high and weighing 20 tons, it is the largest iron sculpture in Europe and recreates the figure of the Giant Tombatossals from the novel by the Castellón-born author Josep Pascual Tirado.

Undoubtedly, an example of low-angle photography because it was impossible for me to take the picture in any other way.

I hope you liked this selection.

Best regards.
