earlier this autumn i was out for an evening walk in the park that once was a naval base- it lies on the Stavern Sound which is the water between the mainland and the islands just 1 km out. it's a great place for a walk so i go there often. there's always something interesting to photograph and i have posted many times from this park
a couple of years ago some local enthusiasts built a floating sauna with access from the park. it quickly became an attraction both for those wanting a fun sauna and for photographers as well.
when it gets too hot in the sauna you can jump in the cold sea. rinse and repeat.
the island creates smooth waters in the sound. the naval base had lookouts on the island as well as the mainland. there's a great panoramic view from the lookout
at the end of the park there was a small rocky hilly island just meters from the shore. when the naval base was established they filled in a walkway so it is now connected to the mainland.
that made a small cove where there is a small protected beach with no surf.
beyond the beach is an area that is not maintained like the rest of the park so coastal wildflowers flourish
some of the taller ones are positioned just right to catch the last rays of the autumn setting sun
