Greetings, friends and lovers of black and white photography. This is my entry to today's #monomad challenge. The place I am going to show you is known in the neighborhood as "La cartonera", a house where they recycle cardboard to sell it.
Saludos, amigos y amantes de la fotografía en blanco y negro. Esta es mi entrada al desafío #monomad de hoy. El lugar que voy a mostrarles, es conocido en el barrio como «La cartonera», una casa en la que reciclan cartones para luego venderlos.
In spite of how unhealthy it looks, it is one of the few houses in the neighborhood that has drinking water, and they have no problem giving it away, unlike others where they deny water because it is annoying to have people in your yard waiting to fill their bottles.
A pesar de lo insalubre que se ve, es una de las pocas casas en el barrio que cuenta con agua potable, y no tienen problemas con regalarla, a diferencia de otras en donde niegan el agua por lo molesto que resulta tener a personas en tu patio esperando para llenar sus botellones.
Here I have seen children playing on top of cardboard, as if they were on a mountain of toys, while rats wander around the yard. Here also lives a lady who, when she sees me, smiles, greets me and asks how I am. I have seen many things here, but I don't want to bore you with a subject that we know all too well, I prefer that you see the state of this place.
Aquí he visto a niños jugando encima de los cartones, como si estuvieran sobre una montaña de juguetes, mientras las ratas se pasean por el patio. Aquí también vive una señora que cuando me ve sonríe, me saluda y pregunta cómo estoy. Aquí he visto muchas cosas, pero no quiero aburrirlos con un tema que conocemos de sobra, prefiero que ustedes vean el estado en cual se encuentra este lugar.
As you can see, some of the photographed areas are repeated and only the elements in them change. This is because I took the photos on several occasions and at different times of the day.
