Monomad challenge entry #147; Nessa's sweater.

in #hive-1421592 years ago

I've been doing a lot of spontaneous photography this year, and each time it happens, I'm marvelled by the results.

Here's a story of one random session with Vanessa.

Sometime around February, Vanessa comes by the studio to visit my colleague. They'd actually planned and executed a shoot, and I was in my workspace working. I came out after they were done and she was almost about to leave.

It was a cold day so she had brought a sweater with her; a very colorful sweater. I loved the combinations of colors and couldn't resist the urge to shoot her with it. She obliged my request to do the shoot. And the photos came out really beautiful.

More than the lighting, or the colourful sweater, it was her expressions that gave life to the photos. You'd value these expressions more in this monochrome variant, as you can't see the color. But I can assure you that colored variants are magic too. If you'd like to see those ones, kindly stayed glued to my page 😁.

Congratulations. Today's #monomad first place is yours.
Thank You very much for participating and for being part of the Black And White Community!

Vanessa is an incredible model, she has a lot of magic, a lot of personality and she knows how to transmit it. You as a photographer managed to capture her essence very well. I congratulate you.

Thank you so much for the kind compliments. I'm grateful. I'll tell Nessa about the compliments she's received too

Very good, I knew it was the monomad award... congratulations

Beautiful model and very professional pictures!!

Hello Kode.
It's great to meet a fellow photog with such an artistic style!
May I ask which light and modifier you used for your main light and hair light?
I would really love to recreate this look, if I can.

Thanks for the compliment chief. I used a Godox Ad600 in a 160cm umbrella on my main light. Then Ad200 in a beauty dish for my hairlight.

Thanks bro! I don't have such a large modifier, but let's see how I can improvise.

Oh okay! Which one do you have?

I have an 80cm softbox, and a 26 inch collapsible beauty dish.

I'll probably put a reflector on my light, move it way back, and shoot it through a thin layer of diffusion, like this image from craftprofessional.com illustrates. That way, I can feign a large light source.

I plan to use the beauty dish + grid for the hair light.
