These flying winged warriors called dragonflies used to freak me out a bit as a child. I remember being quite young, maybe 4 or 5 years old, and I would go to the end of my block and there would be these trees that had little spikey balls on them, which would hurt to grab or step on. This is where I would also see what appeared to be giant flying bugs, which I was worried would come after me.
I think the danger of the spikey balls made me associate the dragonflies that I would only encounter there seem more dangerous than they ever were. Once I grew up a bit and learned more about them, I wasn't afraid anymore, and now, ironically, they are one of my favorite living subjects to do photography with.
