Leaves have so many interesting patterns to capture; the tiny little veins that run from the stem to the outer edge create patterns that make the structure seem like a work of art. I feel there is more depth to this in monochrome as well, which helps the features stand out more. Its a simple subject built also very complex in how its formed as long the conditions of sunlight, oxygen, and the nutrients they need are present in the right quantities.
