It's a really big lake! Once, on a whim, my daughter and a college friend decided to drive around the lake. It turned into a much bigger adventure than they anticipated! The drive is roughly 1,100 miles long and takes around 17 hours with no stops. They ended up needing to call home for gas and food money. At least they learned the value of trip planning!
The Great Lakes, also called the Great Lakes of North America, are a series of large interconnected freshwater lakes spanning the Canada–United States border. The five lakes are Superior, Michigan, Huron, Erie, and Ontario. The Great Lakes Waterway enables modern travel and shipping by water among the lakes.

This week the news has shown The Manitoulin, a 663-foot (202-meter) Canadian vessel that was stuck in the ice on Lake Erie after it dropped off a load of wheat in Buffalo, New York. There were 17 people on board. With the assistance of Coast Guard ice breakers it was freed three days later and resumed travel back to Canada.
The sun was going down in the west and casting a pink glow on the clouds out over the lake. Photos and video were taken with a Google Pixel phone.
