Another academic school year, another batches of freshmen accepted in the curriculum. We're almost at the end of the final term of the first semester, delayed and late already, but the event duly intended to welcome our freshmen couldn't be canceled, held and done amidst the busiest of days. It was their very own day to showcase their talents and potentials to the whole campus, although they are newbies and still adjusting to the college life, they have proved that they can also be as competent as the seniors.
It is indeed true that the 4 years of stay in college will pass by faster. Here we were there welcoming the new batch of freshmen when it just feels like yesterday when we were the ones getting welcomed by the whole campus. The program started early by 8:00 in the morning since there was a scheduled power interruption from the Electric Cooperative of the City at noon.
Each of the representing participants from different departments performed the Festival Dance chosen for them. The winner came from the Office Administration department who remarkably performed the Masskara Festival. Ati-atihan Festival came second from the Informations Systems, and third was the Tinabu-ay Festival from Education Department. Win or lose, loud uproars from the crowd monopolized the entire stadium congratulating them for entertaining us with their incredible performances and giving their best from the months ahead of practice until that final moment.
We were informed to be back there at 3:00 in the afternoon to witness the Mr. and Ms. Freshmen Coronation. Candidates were much competent this year, I admit. Well prepared, and intellectually inclined that the battle was tight, and nobody ever expected who will win exactly. We could only cheer in the corner and perform our duties as officers for a safe and secure memorable event for them.
Here are some snapshots from the event.
The stadium were full of students, faculty, and guests coming from different campuses and all-year levels. All were excited to watch the new beauties of the schools to compete and bring home the crown to their respective departments.
Honestly, we only attended the event for it's required by the Admin office, and attendance checking. It just never crossed out minds that we could enjoy the entire program unlike before that we wanted to go home even before it began. I guess it's the result of putting multiple minds and hearts in one to facilitate such a flawless and fun event.
Every audience were hooked to stand by until the end of it, even applauding for other participants for such a splendid performance in the stage and meaningful answers from the candidates. Even though, I've handled bigger responsibilities considering a whole campus specifically before, I think I could never do what the representatives have done there. Anxiety would trigger my fright days before the individual performance, especially having a huge crowd as an audience looking in every move I make and every words I utter. That's why I'm always amazed of these contestants who can confidently deliver their best in front of thousands of people.
I'm not hoping to acquire such skill in the future, but if ever I did, it would be for educating and empowering more minds, helping more and inspiring every soul of my reach. Anyways, it's another update from my life as a college student. Thanks for being with me until the end of this blog. Have a good day!
