English Translation
Greetings to everyone! Welcome to my blog, I'm Oriana and I'm going to tell you a little about myself.
My full name is Oriana Peñalver, I'm Venezuelan, I was born in Guayana city, and since I was a little girl I've always loved music.
My beginnings in music
From the age of eight to eleven I was in the choir of my school, at the age of 11 I learned to play guitar, and later at the age of 16 I entered the orchestra system of my city in the area of orchestral percussion. There I learned to read music, to play instruments such as the xylophone, the timpani, the cymbals, the snare and the drums, the latter being my main instrument today.
When I finished my studies at school I decided to study music, and to do so I applied to art universities in my country, that's when I got a place in UNEARTE and moved to the city of Caracas.
In UNEARTE I studied drums as my main instrument, I took classes with master Willy Diaz (@willydiazbateria), and I also learned a little bit of piano because the university requires you to take three semesters of complementary piano.
Experience with groups
During my university years I was a drummer in several groups, among them I can highlight:
1. The Simón Bolívar Symphonic Rock Orchestra
In this orchestra I played from 2014 to 2019, with them I had the opportunity to fulfill one of my musical dreams which is to play in the Simon Bolivar Hall, this is the hall where the conductor Dudamel performed every time he came to Venezuela. When I started in the orchestral world I was very excited to be able to perform in that same hall for that reason and thank God I was able to fulfill it with the Rock Orchestra.
2. Nomasté
In 2018 I was part of Nomasté, a fusion group which is formed only by women. This band has themes of ska, swing, Afro-Venezuelan rhythms and onda nueva. It is a very varied fusion and that nourished me a lot as a musician.
With them I had the opportunity to record a music video, to be the opening act for Anakena and to play in an event called Navidades Desordenadas that took place in the acoustic shell of bello monte, in the city of Caracas, there we were the opening act for Los Pixels and Desorden Público, which are two well known bands in my country.

3. Colibrí
In 2021 I was briefly part of the band Colibrí, a band that I honestly don't know how to categorize because it has a little bit of everything, pop, jazz, alternative rock, elements of Venezuelan music and more. Their music is very nice, 100% recommended.

4. Frankensteinv8
In 2021 I was also part of Frankensteinv8, a rockabilly band that has been around for more than 10 years. They play mainly rockabilly but they also have country, swing and surf songs.

The academic side
Pedagogy
In addition to playing with bands I have also worked as a drum teacher, I have taught both group and individual lessons, handling different age groups, from children from 6 years old to adults of 40 years old.
University Degree
One of the biggest accomplishments I achieved last year was graduating from college. In 2019 I defended my undergraduate monograph related to Polyrhythmia and Polymetry, and in 2021 I did my degree recital which is the last step of the career. That same year I had my graduation ceremony and well, now I have a little piece of paper that says that I am a drummer 😅
What you will find in this blog
In this channel you will be able to find many drum covers and some musical recommendations. I'm also open to share my experiences as a musician, my practices and learning process.
Oh and if you are a musician and want to do some collaboration together, you can leave me a comment.
I hope you stay tuned for more projects to come, thanks for reading to the end. Good vibes to all, see you soon, bye!
