Using Healing Abilities Efficiently in Battles in Splinterlands

in #hive-1466206 days ago

Protecting the backline in battles is an important function in Splinterlands because most of the time the monsters in the backline have little health and can be easily defeated, so one of the strategies I use the most in my battles is to select monsters with the ability Triage, this ability will be of great help for my backline monsters to survive since it will heal them.

Triage - This ability heals the backline monster that suffered the most damage by 1/3 of the monster's maximum health 1x per round.

  • I really like strategies with healing abilities because I consider these abilities to be very powerful in Splinterlands, especially when there are rules like Earthquake and Noxious Fumes, but it is also a risky strategy because my opponent can use monsters with the ability Affliction or even the summoner Mimosa Nightshade which is the nightmare of any healing ability.

Affliction - Monsters with this ability have a 50% chance of applying Afflicted to the monster they damaged, and monsters with Afflicted are unable to receive healing from Tank Heal, Heal, and Triage abilities.

This battle will be a great example of how amazing healing abilities are in Splinterlands. In it, I use 3 types of abilities related to healing: Heal, Tank Heal, and Triage.

I'll start by explaining my strategy for the battle.

This is a battle in which I focused a good part of my monsters as support, but I also have powerful monsters to deal damage.

Lily Shieldpaw - This is the summoner I chose for the battle and she will have very important functions.

  • Lily Shieldpaw's first function is to increase my monsters' life by +1.
  • Lily Shieldpaw's second function is to grant the Camouflage ability to all my monsters.
  • Lily Shieldpaw's third function is to heal one of my backline monsters with her Triage ability.

I've already explained how the Triage ability works before and the Camouflage ability will make sure my monsters are not targeted until they are in the first position, with the exception of attacks from monsters that have the Scattershot ability since they attack randomly.

Baakjira - This monster is my main defense in this battle, it has no attack but has the Heal ability that makes it heal by 1/3 of its maximum life 1x per round, in addition to that it has a lot of life so it won't be an easy monster to defeat and that's why it's a great defense.

Angelic Mandarin - This monster also has the Triage ability and in addition to that it will have another function which is to decrease the magic attack of enemy monsters by -1 with its Silence ability.

Chaos Dragon - This monster is one of my main sources of damage in battle and it will be of great help with its Scattershot ability since my opponent has a monster with the Taunt ability, so the Chaos Dragon will be my weapon to eliminate my opponent's backline.

Deeplurker - Just like the Chaos Dragon, this monster is one of my main sources of damage. In fact, it is my monster with the highest attack in this battle and it will be very useful because it has the Opportunity ability and will target the enemy monster with the lowest health.

Merdaali Guardian - This monster has no attack but will be a great support because it will heal Baakjira with its Tank Heal ability and will also increase the health of all my monsters by +1 with its Strengthen ability.

Merdhampir - This monster has a ranged attack and its main functions will be to cause damage and decrease the maximum health of enemy monsters with its Cripple ability.

With this strategy, even with the Briar Patch and Counterspell rules, I wasn't afraid to use monsters with melee and magical attacks because I knew that the Triage ability would help me keep them alive in battle.

Briar Patch - In this rule, all monsters receive the Thorns ability, which means that melee monsters will suffer 2 physical damage when they attack.

Counterspell - In this rule, all monsters receive the Magic Reflect ability, which means that monsters with magical attacks will receive part of the magical damage they caused to other monsters.

These are two rules that are a bit annoying because they make the player think that using monsters with melee or magical attacks is disadvantageous, and in fact it is, but with the Triage ability, facing these rules becomes easier, and that's why strategies with healing abilities are one of my favorites in Splinterlands.

At the end of the battle, I managed to emerge victorious without losing any of my monsters, so choosing this strategy was the right choice.
