Monsters with magic attacks are my favorite in Splinterlands because this type of attack ignores the armor of enemy monsters and deals damage directly to their health. It may seem like a weak reason to love monsters with magic attacks, but I hate fighting monsters that have armor, so monsters with magic attacks are perfect for me.
Another reason I like monsters with magic attacks is the Fog of War rule. In this rule, all monsters lose the Sneak, Opportunity, and Snipe abilities, so basically monsters with melee attacks can only attack in the first position, and the monsters in the backline are "safe" since the main target of the attacks will be the monsters in the first position. It may also seem like a weak reason, but in the Diamond and Champion leagues, which is where I usually play, this rule comes up very often, and in it, monsters with magic attacks are the best options.
BATTLE
I'll use this battle as an example. In addition to the Fog of War rule, there are also the Broken Arrows and Blood and Sundler rules.
In the Broken Arrows rule, players will not be able to use monsters with ranged attacks in the battle.
In the Fog of War rule, as I mentioned before, all monsters will lose the abilities Sneak, Opportunity, and Snipe.
In the Blood and Sundler rule, all monsters will gain the ability Corrosive Ward.
In this battle, choosing monsters with magical attacks becomes inevitable because monsters with ranged attacks are not allowed in it and monsters with melee attacks will only be useful in the first position, since they will not be able to attack in any other position.
With these rules in battle, choosing monsters becomes easier because there is a high chance that my opponent will use many monsters with magical attacks in battle, so with that in mind I selected the following monsters:
Prismatic Energy is in the first position and it is probably one of the best choices for this battle because it has the ability Void and Magic Reflect.
- The ability Void will make Prismatic Energy receive only half of the damage against magical attacks and the ability Magic Reflect will make Prismatic Energy deal part of the magical damage received back to the monster that attacked it with a magical attack.
Void Dragon is in the second position and it also has the ability Void, so it is a great choice for this battle and in addition it has the ability Phase.
- The ability Phase will make Void Dragon be able to dodge magical attacks.
Queen Mycelia is in the third position and she is a great choice because she has the abilities Triage and Amplify.
- The Amplify ability will make Prismatic Energy's Return Fire ability deal more damage and the Triage ability will heal 1 of my backline monsters 1x per round.
The Psychic Goblin is in fourth place and it will be useful because it has the Tank Heal and Silence abilities.
- The Tank Heal ability will make the Psychic Goblin heal Prismatic Energy 1x per round and the Silence ability will decrease the magic attack of my opponent's monsters by -1.
The Chaos Dragon is in fifth place and it is my monster with the most firepower in battle, its main function will be to deal damage to the backline with its Blast and Scattershot abilities.
The Night Reaper is in sixth place and its only function will be to deal damage in battle.
Remember that all these monsters have more abilities, but I only mentioned the ones that will be most useful in this battle, and with my strategy ready, my opponent didn't have many chances of winning since I was able to beat him easily without losing any of my monsters in the battle and with them with full health.
I forgot to mention but the summoner I selected for the battle was Lily Shieldpaw, she is usually more useful because she grants the Camouflage ability to my monsters, but since there is the Fog of War rule, this ability is not very useful, so the main reason I chose her is because she will increase the health of my monsters by +1 and because she has the Triage ability, which will be very useful to keep my backline alive during this battle.
In Splinterlands, a good strategy is crucial to be able to climb the league, and little by little I'm learning new strategies to reach even higher leagues. So far, my limit has been Champion 2, but I hope to soon be able to reach Champion 1 league and even some position in the top 50 to get some extra rewards.
