My vacation ended with two days of rain and a windstorm, fortunately only seen from a distance
On August 9, I arrived in Santa Maria di Leuca (Puglia - Italy) to spend 10 days of vacation together with my family.
A few hours ago, after driving 350 km, I returned to my home in my city.
My summer vacation is officially over and tomorrow I will return to my daily work routine.
It was a very nice 10 days because I had a good, carefree and relaxing time with my family and especially with my daughter and three grandchildren.
Out of 10 days of vacation I was also quite lucky from the point of view of weather conditions because for 8 consecutive days the weather was always nice although on some days the heat combined with the very high humidity was almost unbearable and as a remedy I was almost always in the sea.
The program of my vacation was very much focused on relaxation and on the sea because except for the last two days I spent all mornings and afternoons at the sea together with my family.
Most of the evenings we spent on the Santa Maria di Leuca seafront taking long walks.
One evening we used the car to go to the Imola 2 kart circuit, which is about a 10-minute drive outside Santa Maria di Leuca.
I took the two-seater kart because that way I could also take my daughter on the kart who is not yet old enough and especially not yet tall enough to drive a kart (she is only 2 cm short).
In the next photo you can see the two-seater kart my daughter and I were in.
The photo does not have a high resolution because I obtained it from the video my niece took while my daughter and I were on the track.
On August 14 we visited Otranto, a beautiful tourist location about 1 hour's drive from Santa Maria di Leuca.
In Otranto, I took many photos and will write a post about my visit to this beautiful place in the next few days.
The last two days of my vacation, on the other hand, were ruined by rain, which is why my family and I decided to leave a few hours earlier than originally planned.
During the first day of rain there were also tornadoes near the coast of Puglia, which fortunately formed over the sea and caused no damage on land.
From the terrace of the house where I stayed in Santa Maria di Leuca, I photographed the waterspout that formed near Santa Maria di Leuca.
This is the first time I have witnessed this natural phenomenon firsthand, and fortunately the waterspout dissipated into the sea before reaching land.
Before leaving to return to my town, I accompanied my two in-laws to visit the Basilica “de Finibus Terrae” which is located on the promontory of Punta Meliso.
This sanctuary is very important to my in-laws because they were married right here in Santa Maria di Leuca.
Despite a light rain I stopped in the square of the Basilica to take pictures.
My vacation in Santa Maria di Leuca was a very nice vacation and I returned home rejuvenated and full of positive energy.
Spending quality time with my family and relaxing were the best elements of my vacation.
Unfortunately, vacations don't last long and tomorrow I will have to get up early for work and I will realize I am no longer on vacation already during breakfast because I won't be able to eat a warm and tasty pasticciotto (typical Apulian dessert).

Le mie vacanze sono finite con due giorni di pioggia e una tromba d'aria, per fortuna vista solo da lontano
Il 9 agosto sono arrivato a Santa Maria di Leuca per trascorrere 10 giorni di vancanza insieme alla mia famiglia.
Poche ore fa, dopo aver percorso 350 Km in auto sono tornato a casa mia nella mia città.
Le mie vacanze estive sono ufficialmente terminate e domani ritornerò alla routine lavorativa giornaliera.
Sono stati 10 giorni molto belli perchè ho trascorso dei bei momenti spensierati e in relax con la mia famiglia e soprattutto con mia figlia e con i miei tre nipoti.
Su 10 giorni di vacanza sono stato abbastanza fortunato anche dal punto di vista delle condizioni atmosferiche perchè per 8 giorni consecutivi il tempo è stato sempre bello anche se in alcuni giorni il caldo combinato al tasso di umidità molto alto era quasi insopportabile e come rimedio sono stato quasi sempre in mare.
Il programma della mia vacanza è stato molto incentrato sul relax e sul mare perchè tranne gli ultimi due giorni ho trascorso tutte le mattine e i pomeriggi al mare insieme alla mia famiglia.
La maggior parte delle serate le abbiamo trascorse sul lungo mare di Santa Maria di Leuca a fare lunghe passeggiate.
Una sera abbiamo preso la macchina per andare al circuito per kart Imola 2 che si trova a circa 10 minuti in auto da Santa Maria di Leuca.
Io ho preso il kart bi-posto perchè in questo modo ho potuto portare sul kart anche mia figlia che non ha ancora l'età e soprattutto non ha ancora l'altezza per guidare un kart (le mancano solo 2 cm).
Nella foto seguente puoi vedere il kart biposto in cui eravamo io e mia figlia.
La foto non ha una risoluzione alta perchè l'ho ricavata dal video che ha fatto mia nipote mentre io e mia figlia eravamo in pista.
Il 14 agosto abbiamo visitato Otranto, una bellissima località turistica a circa 1 ora di macchina da Santa Maria di Leuca.
A Otranto ho scattato tante foto e nei prossimi giorni scriverò un post sulla mia visita a questa bella località.
Gli ultimi due giorni della mia vacanza invece sono stati rovinati dalla pioggia e per questo motivo io e la mia famiglia abbiamo deciso di anticipare la partenza.
Durante il primo giorno di pioggia si sono formate anche delle trombe d'aria vicino alle coste pugliesi che fortunatamente si sono formate sul mare e non hanno causato danni sulla terra ferma.
Dal terrazzo della casa in cui sono stato a Santa Maria di Leuca ho fotografato la tromba d'aria che si è formata vicino Santa Maria di Leuca.
E' la prima volta che assisto a questo fenomeno naturale in prima persona e fortunatamente la tromba d'aria si è dissolta in mare prima di arrivare alla terra ferma.
Prima di partire ho accompagnato i miei due suoceri a visitare la Basilica “de Finibus Terrae” che si trova sul promontorio di Punta Meliso.
Questo santuario è molto importante per i miei suoceri perchè si sono sposati proprio qui a Santa Maria di Leuca.
Nonostante una leggera pioggia mi sono fermato nella piazza della Basilica per fare delle foto.
La mia vacanza a Santa Maria di Leuca è stata una vacanza molto bella e sono tornato a casa rigenerato e carico di energie positive.
Passare del tempo di qualità con la mia famiglia e il relax sono stati gli elementi più belli della mia vacanza.
Domani dovrò alzarmi presto per andare a lavorare e capirò di non essere più in vacanza già durante la colazione perchè non potrò mangiare un caldo e gustoso pasticciotto (tipico dolce pugliese).
