After developing some strategies for battles in Splinterlands, I already have some favorite cards and my favorite card from the dragon deck is Void Dragon because this card is a true dodging machine and one of your best allies against cards with magic attacks.
Why is Void Dragon a good choice?
Void Dragon has strengths and weaknesses. If you look at its stats, you will notice that it does not have a strong attack, its magic attack is low and the maximum it can reach without the help of a summoner is 2 magic attack at maximum level. In my opinion, this is a very low value for a legendary card that costs 5 mana, but it is not a problem because it makes up for it in its other stats and abilities.
Void Dragon may have a weak attack, but it has a large amount of speed and health, which makes it a great tank for your battles, mainly because of its abilities.
Let's talk about its abilities, which are Flying, Void and Phase.
The Flying ability will increase by +25% the Void Dragon's chances of dodging melee and ranged attacks from monsters that do not have the Flying ability. With the help of its speed, this will be a great ability for it and there is no doubt that it will dodge several attacks from its opponent.
The Void ability will be a great ally against magical attacks because with this ability the Void Dragon will only receive half the damage caused by magical attacks.
The Phase ability allows the Void Dragon to dodge magical attacks and with it, abilities such as Flying will be included in the calculations and the Void Dragon will also have a +25% chance of dodging magical attacks from monsters that do not have the Flying ability.
If these abilities did not convince you to use the Void Dragon in your battles then let's take a look at it in action through one.
See the Battle
In this battle I was in the Diamond League but I only used Gold League level cards, but I didn't have much trouble reaching Diamond League 1 anyway.
My strategy was simple and if you watch the battle you will notice how useful the Void Dragon was and with it in the battle I was able to achieve victory without losing any of my monsters.
My focus in this battle was to bet that the Void Dragon would dodge several attacks and for that I decided to put 2 monsters that would be of great help to it, the first was the Chaos Dragon that has the Blind ability and it will increase by +15% the chances of my opponent's monsters missing the attack, if you combine it with the Flying ability then the Void Dragon already has +40% chance of dodging attacks. The second monster will not help the Void Dragon to dodge, but it will help it stay in the battle longer if it receives attacks. This monster is the Psychic Goblin, which has the Tank Heal ability and will heal the Void Dragon for 1/3 of its maximum health once per round.
There are other monsters on the battlefield, but my main focus is on the Void Dragon. Another strategy I used was to have the Djinn Chwala in the last position because it has the Thorns ability, which causes 2 physical damage when it receives melee damage from an enemy monster. I put it in this position because there is a Super Sneak rule that gives all melee monsters the Sneak ability, which makes them attack the enemy monster positioned in the last position.
Now going back to Void Dragon, if you look at my opponent's monsters they seem more powerful than mine and in fact they are, they have more attack and also have great abilities but none of that scared me because I knew that Void Dragon would not disappoint me and I was not sure because after the battle ended none of my monsters were defeated.
It's hard to believe that a single monster can be so powerful, right? If you still have doubts about it then I suggest you watch the battle and see how incredible this card is on the battlefield.
